WIW - feeling French Chic with my Oma's scarf

I love this outfit, I feel kind of French Chic. And wearing my Oma's scarf is always nice, of course. The only problem with this look is that the scarf doesn't stay put. Do any of you know of a way to wear a slinky scarf like this without looking too prim?

Love, love, love the pattern mixing here Astrid with the hose, stripes and scarf - just beautiful.

Thanks Shannon! You know, I still love pattern mixing - but it has to be more 'muted' now. Just enough to look interesting without being too hectic.

I sometimes tie a secret knot in it and tuck the knot in so it's not sticking out ... it won't drape as nicely as you have it here, but it won't be flouncing all over either because of how slippery it is either.

And, what Lyn said. I tie a tiny knot and make it secret with tucks. It still slides a bit but not so much and at least it will not fall off.

I don't think the scarf (so fab that you can wear your Oma's beautiful scarf) looks prim at all worn this way, Astrid. (especially not paired with the modern stripes, great pattern mixing). And you definitely have French chic going on here, adore this outfit on you.

How sweet that you can wear Oma's beautiful scarf....and so stylishly as well! This may be way off and too wild, but I read on one site to use small magnets? Haven't tried it....but could work if strategically placed?

Doesn't look prim this way. I agree that the silky scarves can float and flop more. What sometimes looks prim to me is tied very tight or high on neck. Also the ascot look can be very hard to pull off, for me at least. I like the looser more informal way you're wearing it.

Your Oma's shawl is absolutely beautiful and you are wearing it in a great combination. I remember my mother had a certain kind of silver scarf ring (three rings in one) that was inherited from her mother or oma, for shawls. I wonder if you could use one of those.
Or else the knot that is suggested above.

Thanks Inge! I agree, it doesn't look prim this way, but worn loose like this I have to adjust it too much. I'm used to my cotton scarves that I can just throw on, so I didn't quite know what to do with this to make it more practical.

I love this outfit! I have trouble with scarves, too. I love how it looks but I've had to tie the two ends together in a very tiny knot to keep from losing it altogether.

Very Parisian chic! Pretty scarf and even more pretty because it has memories :). I wear my silk square scarves the same way as you...perhaps a safety pin would help to keep the scarf put?

Tres chic! I love tying a scarf like this around my neck (not tight but without a lot of slack) I make a secure knot then pull from the knot to create more space around my neck. I would simply fold the scarf into a triangle and continue folding until I have a long length then tie at the neck letting both end dangle over the front of my shoulder.
