WIW - favorite cardigan and shrunk trousers

WIW from last week
WFH and an errand. The outfit consists of my favorite cardigan. It is from Strenesse, bought about three years ago. I am normally not a cardigan woman, but I love this one. I seldom wear it because I want it to last longer - it would be difficult to find a replacement - yes, silly. I will wear it more now - I want to be on team wear the good stuff every day.
Here, I wear it with cream trousers, which have an awkward length. I managed to shrink them (about 10 cm) by “mistake”. They are a viscose blend and dry clean only, but I decided to wash them anyway in cold hand wash cycle. Obviously, not a good idea…. So as I did this stupid thing, I am going to wear them anyway for now
Black boots and black semi patent hobo handbag with a black and white strap.

Bonus pictures: another WFH outfit - a pair of really old grey boot cut jeans with a grey knitted poncho worn over a burgundy/grey/black top. I added burgundy/black silk flower brooches to pick up the colours of the sleeves. Black patent clogs (my house slippers these days)

Oh the cardigan! Pure 1960’s YSL! I am on Team Wear, but I can understand the sentiment.

A hint on washing viscose. Cool iron as soon as it comes the machine. Like, immediately. Try again with those pants and they might just un-shrink. But don’t sue me if it doesn’t work.

Well, your pant hems are at about the same height as those on the model in the cardigan photo... I think the outfit looks great as is!

I'm probably biased though because I have lots of cropped and ankle pants due to either my legs being too long for them when bought (yet not long enough to fit tall sizes), or laundry mishaps like this one. Shorter hems being acceptable has saved my wardrobe.

I have particular trouble with rayon/viscose, though. I love the soft hand feel of the fibres. But a new rayon garment is usually worn as many times I can get away with, with thorough airing and no washing, and then after the first wash, passed on to one of my daughters.

Another tip for the viscose is to soak it in tepid water with some baby shampoo or hair conditioner. The aim is to relax the fabric fibres, and hopefully go back to its original size or shape. Plenty of details on the internet.

L’Abeille, thank you. I like cropped styles as well and wear them often. These have not been full length from the beginning either, rather ankle length. Now, a bit too short…

That is a fantastic cardigan, no wonder you baby it. It is super flattering on as well. I actually quite like the length of the cream pants on you, to me that is the proper length for the cropped pants. The look great with the booties and overall in the whole outfit. Love the bootcuts & poncho, too - fun and different!

Lisa, thank you for the compliment. As many of us, I put on weight during the pandemic largely due to stress and comfort eating. Apart from not feeling very well physically, I was about to loose my entire wardrobe - in the end nothing fit properly. It was a wake up call and I changed my eating habits - not particularly drastically though, just little by little. In about six months I lost the additional weight and I am now back at the lower end of my usual weight interval. My old clothes fit well again, which I am grateful for. Now the challenge will be to keep the weight off - and steady - that part I think is always the hardest part.

No need to worry about the pants. The length looks intentional works very well with your booties. You could try sneakers too, like in the product page for the cardigan, but that would be a weekend look. You make casual/jeans look elegant!
