Hi friends, sort of adjacent to suntiger's thread about thrift and fast fashion, I am wearing a Joe Fresh blouse that I've just realized is at least 8 years old and still a favourite. Not sure what accounts for the longevity style-wise - I think the print and style is kinda classic without being super boring? Who knows *shrugs*

I have to wear a Holter monitor for a few days (nothing serious, just my low blood pressure being abnormally so, so abundance of caution from my doc) and this blouse is perfect to camoflauge it.

Going strong and looks great! It’s funny I have a few ‘vintage’ Joe fresh pieces that I just can’t part with. Cheap as chips , and they’ve held up amazingly well.
If needed rubbing alcohol is excellent for getting the adhesive from the ecg stickers off. Fingers crossed that all goes well.

Yes working with British colleagues definitely added some colour to my language! Then there’s the Peppa pig influence on my grandchildren…sorry Helena for high jacking….

That looks great! Casually elegant and I would have no idea the blouse wasn’t from a more expensive brand.

I’ve had many favourite Joe things over the years. I’m currently at the cottage, where I keep my old summer clothes to wear them out, so plenty of JF and ON. I literally wore holes in an ancient thinning pair of ON chambray joggers the other day and was thankful there was nobody but us on that hiking trail, lol!

Yup! My favourite (and very old) workout tanks are JF, and I haven’t found any better to replace - so weekly rotation.

I have a similar shaped top from Loft that I still wear 8 years on, too.

Thank you so much everyone - for the nice comments on my "cheap as chips" blouse (merwoman, lol'd at the Peppa Pig comment - I love Peppa; I'm so glad my kids were still young enough when it became popular; it's so funny hahah) ... and the kind and helpful tips on the monitor (Rachy, it's basically just recording my heart rate etc for 48 hours to make sure it's not being too lazy )

Lovely blouse!Maybe it works for you because it hits that sweet spot of casual but not too casual,comfortable and feminine but without being overtly girly?Whatever,it looks lovely.
Hope the holter results set your mind and your doctors at rest ……and if anyone wants to learn some more British phrases,l am available !

Love the blouse! Another way to remove the adhesive post Holter is baby oil, or mineral oil or even cooking oil!

Great outfit— I really like a long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve lightweight blouse with shorts.

I applaud your fast fashion worn slow ethic and am nodding along in my secondhand American Eagle sundress! I have several pieces from rather unlikely retailers that have turned out to be really well made and that I’ve enjoyed for years.

Great shirt—never ubertrendy, so not going to look “out” either. And you’ve styled it well.

I can’t figure out what things will last or won’t. My son had a pair of insulated pants from H&M that he wore for a couple years, til he outgrew them. They were iron & still looked great. I think Esprit was an 80s & 90s version of fast fashion; I enjoy wearing thing from them purchased then. So far my Desigual things are holding up well.

It's a great shirt. One of my oldest wardrobe items (from 8 years ago) is a Zara peacoat which I wear often - definitely not "fast" fashion either and still looks immaculate.

You look great as always. I’m intrigued every time Joe Fresh is mentioned, but I guess it’s a Canadian brand because I’ve never seen it. Might have to check it out when I’m over the border again (hubby has family).

That’s a great top! I get a weird joy out of an inexpensive item that lasts for years like that. Makes me proud of my occasional budget shopping prowess, LOL.

I am trying to pinpoint what it is that makes a piece more longer lasting in my wardrobe than others. Like you, I have certain pieces that have lasted and been worn through many years. I think I am figuring out what combination of factors work for me so that I can replicate those purchases.
Congrats on finding a piece that you still wear and love so many years later!

You look lovely. I think the pattern, cut and colour make the blouse an elevated classic.

I have a few Zara items that are well aged. No need to treat fast fashion as disposable.

That shirt suits you well, no longer you still hold onto it! I think such 'fast' fashion finds don't work as well for people with smaller wardrobes - the amount of frequent washing needed would mean that lower quality items probably wouldn't reach as many wears before, well, wearing out But if you have a medium to large wardrobe, I say to go for it!

I'm sorry to hear about your blood pressure - I've also recently found out mine is chronically low, which is funny considering all the precautions I've been taking over the years to ensure it doesn't become too *high* (I'm genetically predisposed to a lot of issues related to high blood pressure). Here's hoping results come back ok (i.e. nothing to worry about) for the both of us!
