WIW - Fall is Here!

To start with, I took the pictures in our home gym hoping the lighting would be better without having to fight too much natural light. Not sure that worked out so well.

Now that I see a picture of the outfit, I am a bit concerned that the sweater falls at the exact widest point across my hips, not really doing me any favors. It also might be a wee bit frumpy . . . I really like the color and texture, but not sure on this one. Perhaps I need to wear it open.

Hi Thistle! I really love the burgundy color on you and the color is right on trend for this fall! I have the same problem with cardigans--when I button them up they tend to look a little frumpy on me. Have you tried leaving it open instead? Maybe with a long pendant to create more of a vertical line as well? Maybe you could also try that cardigan with skirts or dresses...I find that when I wear pants I tend to want to wear longer cardigans to cover my butt, but tend to wear shorter/cropped cardigans when I wear skirts/dresses.

I see your point. It might look better with my full black skirt instead of pants. Also, open might work better too.

I am wearing a triangular shaped pendant, you just can't see it behind my hand. I really need to figure out a better way to take pictures! it is one of the main reasons I don't post WIWs so much.

Love the sweater color on you! Have you tried leaving the last few buttons undone? It would really highlight your waist, by creating a V shape on the sweater...I hope you keep posting WIWs, I really like seeing them We are getting definite Fall weather here too- highs only in the low to mid-forties-ugh!

Love the burgundy! I agree with GoldenPig, she is right on target. Angie has some great tips for Pretty Pears, and I am beginning to benefit from them myself as an hourglass/pear.

Mm, the cardi doesn't hit your widest point. I think it falls in a good place, provides good visual balance. Esp. with the V and the cream shirt underneath - I feel attention is focused where it should be, your face.

A longer cardi would truncate you, IMO, and probably obscure your waist. A shorter one, I think, would make it look like your hips are preventing the top from going lower.

No this is good. And great colors - the darker "tan" with the burgundy is a winner.

Sweater looks fine to me, and it doesn't hit at your widest point. If you wear it open that will work too, but will look more casual. I like your choice of colors here: caramel and burgundy. Very autumnal yet not entirely predictable.

I love these colors on you, burgundy is so flattering! I think the sweater looks fine as is, but unbuttoned is another option.

I struggle with cardigan frump too, which is why I stopped wearing them. This is a fantastic color on you, whatever you decide about the cardi!

Nice colours for you. I would play around with the cardi as others have suggested, maybe unbuttoned with a longer tee or shirt underneath. I'm another one who struggles with cardis - sometimes I just do up a couple of buttons near the bustline, more to keep it in place than anything else

Color is is lovely and right on trend. I like to button just the middle two (sometimes three) buttons, and leave a little of my layering t or blouse to show. This creates a vertical line down the front of my body. You might give that a whirl! Also, what about scrunching the sleeves?
