WIW - Emerald Cashmere for first day back at work

Nope, no pictures. Way too hectic today to even get a bathroom picture

I wore my green Halogen cashmere V-neck with a white GAP tee underneath, black Talbots trousers and black Tayrn Rose booties.

I am beyond exhausted, and am heading to bed as soon as the baby lets me. DH and the girls had a rough day, too. He is finding being home with them a lot more demanding than he had thought

Thanks for the word picture. Emerald cashmere paired with booties with the word "rose" in their name sounds spectacular! I read your post and was actually surprised you're back at work already; it seems like your baby was just born a couple weeks ago. Crazy how fast time goes, isn't it?

I hope it gets easier for you and your family. My DH went back to school to get an MBA when I went back to work after our middle child. He was basically a stay at home dad. It was a big adjustment for him. He thought he would have tons of time to do house projects and stuff. Caring for a 2-year and a newborn took way more time and energy than he was expecting.

You're so brave to return on a Monday. I've heard it is better to return to work midweek because one gets especially pooped after the first few days.

Emerald cashmere sounds just like a hug but still professional.

I hope you cut yourself lots of slack for the next few years! It's a tough time but it goes by so quickly. My husband worked from home a few days a week when I went back to work after our first was born, and I can still remember the disaster/messes when I got home. Nothing like being even a part-time stay at-home dad to make them appreciate all we Moms do i have not been on the forum much lately, so I am unsure of your long-term plans, but if your hubs will be home for a while, just remember that they have their own way of doing things and it's all good

I'm sure you looked fab, emerald is a great color on you. Don't worry, we can all imagine how wonderful you look.

The road will be bumpy the next few days but once you (and DH and DDs) settle into a quasi-routine (as much as you can with two little ones) you'll feel more calm. At least the kids are with DH and you won't have to worry while you're at work. I always found that calming to know my children were with their dad while I was in the office. One less thing to stress out about.

I hope you got some rest last night, today is a new day. Ease into it as much as you'll allow yourself (I'm guessing you're like me and will push yourself at work like you never left).

I am insanely jealous of Canada and most of western Europe that gets a full year of leave. My counterpart in the UK had her baby last June and won't be back until this June. I had my baby at the end of October and have to be back mid-January.

I took the full 12 weeks the US allows, which are, of course, unpaid. I have never been more disappointed in the US than I was once I started looking at having children. It is not a child friendly country for those of us that work. Even China gives mothers 16 weeks paid.

DH is staying home 9 weeks. He took 3 with us in the hospital and first days home. So, this uses his 12 unpaid weeks as well.

I am just thankful we are in a financial position that we can take what we are allowed off with the baby. Not all families are so lucky.

Definitely reduce your expectations for what you "ought" to get done and focus on your priorities. You are good at doing that! Have lots of FFBO's ready.
It is definitely tiring to be a working mother even with good help from DH.
