WIW - Early V Day - YouLookFab Forum

DH & I went out for an early Valentine's Day dinner tonight. I wanted to wear this dress that I found at JCP on clearance. If I have learned anything here it is that you have to get out and try on loads of stuff. I really didn't think this dress would work on me with horizontal stripes & nutmeg coloring. But I put it on and lo and behold it worked!....at least I think so. The problem is I went to get dressed and realized I didn't have the right shoes. My knee high brown boots just looked too heavy. I ended up wearing my black booties with gray tights but they weren't awesome because there really is no black in this dress. It is all muted colors of nutmeg, taupe and brown. After dinner we walked around the shops and I tried on a bunch of booties. The stores were closing so I didn't get any pics but I think taupe or cognac would look good. What do you think?

I love the fall colors in this dress. The waistline is SO flattering on you. YAY for trying it out. I must say I can't go in JCP for anything unless I plan to walk out with a dress. I ALWAYS find some cute little number that just has to come home with me (that also fits perfectly). Then it's always on SALE to boot. Who can say no to that? I'm glad I'm not alone.

Thanks DV. It is good to see you back around here! Yes, I am with you. This is my 2nd JCP dress this season! Since you mention the fall colors of this dress.....I am wondering if this dress reads as something that you would only wear Sept - Nov.? I did take pause at the colors and then thought heck I am just going to wear it anyway.

Oh, I think the colours are lovely in the dress. It looks so flattering on you too. The booties and tights look pretty good actually, as they sort of echo the darker banding across your dress. I could definitely see cognac booties working well too.

You did the right thing! I don't think you should let the color palette dictate when you wear this dress. Just because it evokes fall doesn't mean it can only be enjoyed from Sept - Nov. It's such a flattering dress it should be worn as long as the weather allows. I know there have been more than a few thread every year about making fall/winter clothes work when you're longing for spring.

I have an extremely similar dress, mine is a straight sweater dress and not a fit and flare, but the colors and pattern are the same as yours (and it's also from JCP). Even though the colors are fall shades, I wear mine year round! The dress is very flattering on you, so wear and enjoy!
