I mentioned in my last post that I like to wear dresses in the heat and have been searching for non-polyester options. I put on some weight over the winter and all of my casual jersey dresses from seasons past aren't fitting as well as I'd like (or fitting too well?), so I'm on the hunt for 4-5 casual dresses that I can wear this summer. Here's a few recent WIWs with what I have so far:
Outfit 1: Worn to work on a day I knew I wouldn't be spending time in the lab. This is a recent purchase from JCrew. It's a woven linen-blend that has enough weight to drape well but still isn't overly hot. The dress managed the sit down test but is only barely passing the "running up/down the escalator" test.
JCrew dress, Cobb Hill sandals.
Outfit 2: Worn to a brewery tour with DH, followed by some time hanging out outside. My second dress purchase of the season, from the Gap. It's 100% woven cotton and has a low-cut back (which I forgot to get a picture of!) and is my new favorite. I liked the yellow necklace when I grabbed it but not too sure seeing the pictures.
Gap dress, softspots shoes, MK bag.
Outfit 3: Worn out to a theatre event with a friend. This dress I'd put up for K/R last summer because it was a bit pricey, but it was also made of cotton and made in Canada. This is actually the first time I wore it! It's a little snugger than it was last year but hopefully still acceptable? Added the jacket in case it was too cold but didn't end up needing it.
Dress from local boutique, Halogen jacket, Winners shoes.
Thanks for looking and suggestions/comments are welcome!
