WIW - Dress and booties - Bonus fascinator

Hi fabulacious people - I tried my hand at more booties with visible legs, this time with dresses.

#1-4 are a new dress I really like, different colors for me yet I feel really happy in 'em. I am looking forward to getting the shoulders altered, they are a bit too big sideways. My long-sought-after Captain Kirk boots are making their YLF debut! Thanks to many of you for the belt inspiration, it totally changes the look and lengthens my legs, or so I believe.
Dress - H&M
Belt - nice elastic number, scavenged from a JC Penney top
Boots - Hush Puppies - so very comfy

#5-7 are an old dress in a new way. I saw this look (leopard + brown tights + brown boots) on Nina Van Horn on an old "Just Shoot Me" tv show and I gasped audibly. I then proceeded to put the outfit together and I'm very happy with it. My fascinator is a bit hard to see because of that darned festive autumn wreath just behind my head. It is an orange witch's hat with black spiderwebs on it, a tiny veil, and a few feathers.

I got quite a few comments on the fascinator this morning at my Chamber of Commerce meeting, ranging from "I love love love your hat" from a friendly and fashionable woman, to a shocked "oh my god" from a man who, let's just say, is not a fashion plate. I took all the comments graciously and kept my pointy head held high.

I love both dresses and booties. I'm on the fence with the fascinator, Halloween only on that one, perhaps for me!

You are rocking the booties and dress look. In #1 I would say the shoe is too heavy for the dress, but it looks good with the black belt. Love the color combos in the second one (and the fascinator, but I can see why you got comments...(-: )

I think you could try #1 with black tights.

Love the second outfit! It's a great mix of colours and textures. I agree with the others that the boots in outfit 1 seem too dark. How does the dress look without a belt and with a more nude coloured shoe ( or boot)? The fascinatior is super!

I like the colors in dress #1 on you indeed! Lovely shape on you, too. For a more coherent look, try sheer black tights with it if you want to wear this dress/belt/boots combo, I miss a little something to tie it more together. #2 is just so perfectly combined, and the fascinator is awesome!

I agree - the second bare leg with bootie look is working really well but maybe the black booties are a bit heavy with that more summery dress. You are having way too much Halloween fun. Your fascinator is boo-tiful!

2. What kind of sleeves does the brown dress have? I think you could layer underneath the dress too, with a black or brown long sleeve t, perhaps?

Zapotee - yes, the fascinator is just for Halloween, but I am loving the impertinence of it. Thanks for your support.

Jenava and others who feel the dark bootie is too much with Dress #1, I should mention the dress is a heavy knit, which makes it more of a fall/winter dress even tho the shades bespeak spring and summer! I'll try to show the booties better when I wear them again, they are not at their best.

Ingunn - I did try it with black tights and it looks smashing, but the day was too hot for that combo. And thanks for the idea.

Beth Ann - yes, very good idea about something under the leopard dress. It is sleeveless and has quite a large cleavage keyhole that might be inconvenient in a downpour, ha ha!

Julie you are so cute! (Hope that's not offensive ^^) Love #1, the black belt balances the black boots nicely; also agree with Jenava that if you ever get cooler weather, black tights would also look good there. #2 also looks nice, fascinator and all! Would look cheekier with a more cropped jacket

I'm with Angie on this too. I love #1 as well. It takes time for eye to acclimate, but bare legs with black boots and light dress can absolutely work. The belt is great, but I am betting you could have worn without it too.

I also love #2. The colors are all so beautiful together. You wear purple very well.

The fascinator seems fun -- hard to tell in the pic!

Oh thank you for wearing bare legs with booties! That's what I'll have to do too, as it's usually way too hot here for tights. This looks so modern and fab. It's amazing how the booties just take any dress/skirt up a notch.

Love the 2nd dress & booties would lovevto see it with a pleather moto jacket. Not sold on the black booties with the first dress maybe try Jenava's suggestion.
