WIW - denim skirt, animal print, white, mustard

#1 - I have mosquito bites on my ankles and feet and had a hard time finding shoes that didn't rub at least one. I finally gave up and put on some band-aids. These were one of the best because one bite is on the side of my foot where pumps and ballet flats hit and these don't rub that area (although they do rub the one on my ankle). Anyone have any advice on how to keep mosquitos away and help the itching? I've had major problems the last two years. I'm not sure what changed as we've lived in this house for 10 years now and didn't have problems before. Also, out of the 5 people living in our house, I'm the only one that gets bit.

#2 - Stripes and animal print

#3 - I love the color of this top but can never figure out what to wear it with. I only like it with white so it doesn't get worn very often.

#4/5 - Mustard and navy - two colors in one outft - very rare for me. Long dangly earrings. I'm not sure they went with the casual outfit but whatever, I like them and was looking for a chance to wear them.

Hard to pick a favorite. Love them all. Probably #3. I really like that top. I am also the one that gets bit. Swells up and is painful and itchy for days. So bad it impedes my sleep. I wore long pants, socks and close toed shoes to see fireworks just to minimize the exposure.

ETA - from your pics, it seems like your cat insists on eating in all of your snaps.

I think the mint top would look great with denim as well. Or get more white bottoms

No suggestions on the mosquitoes... how annoying. I'm luckily someone who doesn't tend to get bitten (as compared to others, of course I do a bit) I find Afterbite pretty good to put on them, it comes in a tube so can keep in a purse.

I especially love #3. I think you could wear that top with a variety of other colors but I really like it with white. Just break out the white bottoms more often! As far as mosquito bites, I have recently dabbled just a little with some essential oils. I have found that eucalyptus oil helps with the itching so I wonder if it would also help keep them away. Probably someone who is well versed in essential oils would have some good ideas.

Have you tried the anti-itch stuff that comes in a little wand? One brand name is After Bite. It must be pure ammonia - phew! - but it does take the edge off the itch.

Cortisone cream helps with the itch of mozzie bites.

The AfterBite stuff can be helpful. The only advice I have for avoiding the bites is to stay away from the darn bugs. But that is easier said than done.

They are worst in damp conditions.

I like all your outfits, esp. #1. #3, and the mustard and navy with dangling earrings!

The mint top is really pretty on you. Jealous because I can't wear those pastels. It will look great with dark denim, too.

Hard to choose, but I think my favorites are #3 & 4.

I think mosquitoes are attracted to female hormones. . .I remember going out crabbing years and years ago; all the other women were probably post-menopausal and I was the only one bitten.

In addition to topicals, anti-inflammatories like Motrin and Aleve may help. If Benadryl makes you drowsy as it does me, I recommend children's Benadryl in liquid form. That way you can calibrate the amount that helps the itching without making you drowsy. For me, it is the little kids' amount of two tablespoons so half the adult amount.

My faves are no 1 and no 3. I really like your white sandals. They work so well with both pairs of pants.

And sorry no advice on the mozzie bites. My experience is that there is always one person who gets bit. Is it a dusk thing? I think that is when mozzies and sand flies are at their worst so I try to cover up my ankles if I am out at that time.

I was so excited about your photos I missed the mosquito bite issue . Coming from the mosquito capital of Canada , I can't help you. I am that weird person who doesn't get bitten, or when I do , it's not a big deal . I have a big stock of Benadryl and cortisone cream for others in my house who are prone to being bitten though .

Thanks for the mosquito bite advice! I'll look for Afterbite. I think I remember using that as a kid when we visited my grandmother in Indiana. I have some topical Benadryl which seems to help if I get it on right away. I've tried regular Benadryl but it doesn't seem to do anything for me (it doesn't make me sleepy either).

I'm not sure why my cat is always looks like she's eating when I take photos. The automatic feeder actually feeds her very early in the morning, to avoid her waking me up because she's hungry, so there's usually nothing in her bowl at this time. She always acts like she's starving though which is why we use the automatic feeder. It turned out that I was feeding her when I got up and then the kids were also feeding her because she acted so hungry. She was getting quite plump. Now no one has to worry about feeding her.

I really like all of these but #1 and #3 are my faves.

I've read that mosquitoes are attracted more to people with O type blood, and I believe the are attracted to estrogen as well, making women more inclined to get bitten. Peppermint oil mixed with a carrier oil can repel them - as can lavender oil and a few others. Depends on what scent you prefer. Burts Bees used to have a peppermint based shower gel. For the itch I would recommend a product called
Boericke & Tafel Florasone Itch & Rash Relief Cream

- it's homeopathic and one of the few things that works for me. I am also a big target for bites.

Ugh, I have type A blood which is supposed to the be the least attractive to mosquitos, but obviously isn't in my case. Thanks for the advice on oils to repel mosquitos - I hate bug spray and avoid it all costs, but oils sound much more pleasant.
