Here is my outfit for work today...

Color: Scarf Neck Knit Top (Jacob)
Pattern: Rose Print Pencil Skirt (Rickis)
Texture/Shine: Vintage Cuff Bracelet

I am also wearing a pair of new pointy toed flats from Aldo. As per the great answers I got about increasing the lifespan of my flats, they are leather, sprayed with protectant spray, and I had vibram outsoles put on them. They were also on sale, because I suspect that I am one of those people who is hard on my shoes.

Lastly, that Cardigan. Oh dear. I was on the fence about it when I put it on this morning, but now that I see the pictures it is headed straight for the "pass" pile...

Great job interpreting the rubric! I love that skirt on you, and you look lovely in the blue. I do agree the cardi is ready to pass on. But I hope you'll wear a slightly different version of this outfit again, with a different cardi or a jacket. I think a tonal look would be great here - not as high contrast as the white, but maybe a different grey or ink blue or something? Or go the opposite way, with another pop of colour?

Smart of you to take all those precautions with the shoes. I hope they last a bit better for you.

Cute shoes, love the pointy toe! Beautiful skirt, too! Good tip about protecting leather shoes, I have only done that with suede in the past.

Very nice! Have you tried it with the top untucked? I love the colour of the top, and the print of the skirt.

I have to agree the cardigan is less than wonderful (mine never gets any love either) although I love the brightening effect of the white.

Maybe not this cardigan, but if you decide to purge it please consider bringing in another white item into your wardrobe; you look lovely and fresh with white close to your face.

Are you sure it's the cardigan and not the proportions? I typically prefer a cropped silhouette with pencil skirts, though I'll be the first to admit I don't have a very good eye for proportion!

Like Ceit, I adore everything about this outfit except for the cardigan. Keep the cardigan for cozying up on a cold evening with jeans though. The flats are great.

I am with others, I really like this outfit with the white topper. Maybe a cropped cardigan or jacket, something more streamlined to echo the line of the outfit. This cardigan may work in a casual look with BF jeans perhaps?

Thanks, all! I like the idea of a white topper with this outfit, and went with that cardi because it was the only one I had in white. It is at least a size too big, though. definitely something shorter/more streamlined would be better...

I adore that rose print skirt. I also like the color of the knit top you paired it with. It feels fresh and unexpected. Btw your thread title just inspired one of my style resolutions for the coming year.

Emily, this is a great outfit. I love the print of the skirt, and the cobalt just pops against it.

You had Vibram outsoles put on the flats? Dang! I didn't know one could do that. I need to research that more, as I think I'm one of those people that's hard on my shoes too.

You look fab in cobalt and your pointy flats look great with a pencil skirt. The cardi is wrong with this outfit but mght work with jeans or belted with a pencil skirt.
