WIW - casual day and ice cream!

Last night I posted a few outfit ideas for input on what to wear today. I have a rare jeans day at work, but also need to go to my son's new school for an ice cream social to meet his new 1st grade teacher. It will also be an opportunity to see his new classroom and meet some of his classmates and their parents.

After everyone's input (and actually trying the outfits on) I decided to go back to the basics for this one and keep it simple. Crisp white button down tucked into boot cuts with my animal print heels, cognac belt and chunky gold watch. Nothing terribly exciting but hopefully a simple, classic look that still looks modern and fashionable. Trying to hit a note of looking well put together yet approachable. What do you think - did I get it right?

Also - yay or nay on the statement necklace? It tends to be a conversation piece, which might be nice for a conversation starter with new people. Or are the heels bold enough and I should leave off the necklace?

Love LOVE this outfit - white shirt and jeans is just. so. right.. I'm not sure if the necklace adds anything to the outfit - it's such a nice clean look in #2, I'd be tempted to go that route.

I tend to think more is better but I think in this case you could leave off the necklace. It seems like its getting hidden in the shirt and it might be nice to keep your neck...line open a bit.

Perfect outfit. The shoes give it pizazz. I'd go with the statement necklace, too. It can be tricky to dress for school things in the Seattle area where so many moms will be in very casual attire. This outfit hits the balance. Let us know how it goes.

Christy, what a gorgeous "casual" outfit! This looks really great on you. The teacher and other moms will probably swoon, so be prepared. I like the outfit both with and without the necklace. So if that necklace gives you extra confidence wear it! If you will be fiddling with it or feeling overdone, leave it out.

Man, those jeans look amazing on you. Since you know the necklace gets comments/is an icebreaker and you're going for "approachable" I'd keep it on. It definitely says "I may look super-polished but I have a fun side!"

Ha Angie! I just realized that this is pretty much a copy cat of your BF outfit without the BF! And I misspoke - it is exciting because I'm feeling pretty great in it. It's simple, strong and classic with quality pieces, a little bit of fun and nothing to "fuss" over. Yay!

ETA: We are wearing "almost" the same thing today. I have a gold belt and yellow necklace and rolled up the sleeves of my blouse instead. We all got inspired by Angie:)
