I wanted to try out my blue jacket with a dress before I parted with it. The colors are definitely bright! I added in gold shoes and a gold necklace for sparkle.

I am not so sure about the jacket or dress at this point. The jacket is pre-YLF, and I am not certain its length works even with a dress. The dress was one of my first forrays into dresses and has not seen the wear I thought it would. Partially because it is sleeveless, but something about it feels off. The waist doesn't hit my actual waist either. It is up higher than my actual waist.

Thistle, the dress looks good on you. I wonder if you don't wear it simply because it's a bit va-va-voom for the workplace. The jacket does tone it down some, and I like the color combo. Something about the jacket is not working though. At least when worn open, I don't like the way it falls. It looks like it's not fitting well. Ha! I'm not sure if these comments are helpful, but it is nice to see you in bright color!

I adore this dress on you. We get to see your tiny waist!!! As a lover of jewelry I also adore the necklace YAY! I agree the outfit is off with the jacket. I think it's because the jacket is also a very saturated hue and works better with white and pastels on you and seems to compete with the harmony you've already created with the dress, sandals and necklace. Also we loose the tininess of your waist with this jacket. I think a fitted pastel cardigan or a cardigan in white or soft gray would be a better choice. Either way I am so pleased with this dress on you and the addition of the necklace. LOVE!

Great pictorial. For me this confirms, keep the dress, toss the jacket.
Work with the dress with some of your other toppers. For dressy, it's perfect as-is. For work, a very simple short soft cardi would be easy and not overpower the dress. A "sharp" more structured jacket in gray, white or black might also work.

Love this dress on you. Liz is right it is va va voom . The jacket is ok.
Maybe it is the two heavily saturated colors together.
Really love the dress.

I like the dress. I do agree with Liz, that is a bit va-va-voom on its own and also maybe a bit younger of a look than you usually do, so I think it does need a jacket to tone it down/make it more sophisticated, but not this one. This particular jacket looks a bit too boxy.

Yep, I think it is time to pass on the jacket.

Va-va-voom dress was not the intent! Huh, and it looked so placid hanging in the closet with its modest neckline, knee length and flared skirt.

I think this dress is stunning on you. I know I can't stand the feeling of a waist hitting me too high so maybe it's just the feeling of it that you're not crazy about. I also love the color combo with the jacket. Maybe the jacket is a bit too boxy? I wonder if you'd like it better if it had a little nip at the waist. I hope you don't let this dress languish in your closet. Maybe you can find another topper that work with it better.

The dress is a gorgeous colour for you. (Oh, and it just happens to be one of my favourites!)

It does look a bit "evening" like, somehow.

Does the fit feel just right to you? There appears to be a bit of pulling in the underarm area and a crease at the lap line (which might just be from sitting down and could be completely temporary). I know that whenever I get that pulling at the underarm/ bust I feel less comfortable, even if technically the item is the correct (or best for me) size. But it may be a trick of the camera. If it doesn't bother you, then I would encourage you to wear more often!

Oh my goodness, I'm just swooning over the sight of you in that dress! Look at those curves and proportions! You look absolutely stunning. On the jacket, It's not all bad, but I find jackets and dresses really difficult to wear. It covers up all your best parts, too.

I'm seeing the same thing I saw before - the straight hemline makes this jacket less versatile. The dress is fab! Not in love with the color combo in two main pieces though I think one would work as an accent to the other. And in India this would be a traditional color combo!

I think the dress and jacket are lovely on you if I am being picky the only flaw I can see is that the dress clings a little bit around your tummy & I can see a very slight knicker line - not noticeable when you are wearing the jacket.

The dress is beautiful on you, Thistle. Would your lavender jacket work with it? Maybe it is time for the jacket to find a new home.

Sounds like you've got a plan to re-home the jacket. I love the color of the dress and I thin you look gorgeous. You might be able to alter the underarm and waist area, if the fit is bothering you. I think a soft cardi would be lovely as a topper.
