Today I used all the tips I gleaned in yesterday's WIW. Thanks to all for weighing in.

Same cognac shoes

Gap medium wash resolution slim straight jeans that fit me like skinnies
New BR striped tunic

Wow I feel a million times better today. Thanks for all of the help diagnosing the issues.

Jenn, thanks, I am with you. This feels 1000x better than yesterday and it was just slight tweaks. Crazy.

I will try rolling the jeans next time, Smittie. THey do have a bit of extra length, it's funny, they're regulars and I am 5 ft 5 in so I don't ever get petite/short jeans, but these seem longer than normal for regular length.

It's funny, abc, I'm wearing a very similar outfit today with slim (fit like skinny) jeans and a tunic. Oxfords instead of booties, though, and I did roll the jeans.

Cute! I like all the little tweaks This should work with the plaid shirt too, but it's possible that it'll have a similar effect to yesterday because it has a straighter hem (whereas this tunic is rounded); definitely try a semi-tuck with the plaid.

Yes, Aida, I will try a semi tuck. I can't do it with the jeans from yesterday (I don't think at least) bc they have a higher rise (NYDJ so lots of tummy coverage).

I was browsing a store today and popped on a shirt and attempted a semi tuck with these jeans, and it seemed to work ok, they're mid rise but on me hit me fairly high. It's a balance, I like a high waist to help pull in the wobbly tummy bits, but if it's too high then I can only wear tops over the waist, nothing tucked. So many small details in clothes I'm learning thanks to you and YLF

For mid-rise semi-tucking, as long as the shirt is a soft material with some drape try tucking just the bottom in and then letting it drape over the jean waist. It'll hide more of the waistband than with a lower-rise pair but still works really well as long as the top's fabric is accommodating.

You look totally fab. I really like that tunic on you, and the cognac bag and shoes are great with it. Something about cognac with the blue and white stripes looks so fresh and polished, yet you are still casual and relaxed looking.
I had to look back at yesterday's outfit, and I agree this one is better. I would not have been able to diagnose the other one, though. Glad you got some good input!

This is a score! I am having hard times with crisp, non drape button downs-so I was really curious how to do it well. I think I missed the other thread-but went back to check it now, and WOW, I learned so much from it for myself, Aida's comment, and your tweakings!

I missed yesterday's post, but this outfit is terrific. I noticed the bag in the Finds a couple of days ago -- it's terrific. Cognac is a great choice for you, and the proportions are great.

I did not see the last WIW but I can tell you that I really love this one! The combination of the soft denim and cognac is really flattering on you, and the tunic looks wonderful over the jeans. It's a terrific look that I hope you'll duplicate. Whatever you learned, it's really working here.
