WIW - bad outfit that got compliment

My 7 yr old daughter put together my green outfit (i added the belt). I volunteered at her school that day, and it happens to be school color day and she insisted on me wearing as much green as possible to be the green monster..

I thought the outfit is meh. But when shopping at Nordstroms afterwards, I got compliments from the SA that was helping me, saying she really likes my outfit. Then later, while leaving the dressing room, another SA said nice outfit too. Whiich TOTALLY surprised me. I thought the first SA may be just being polite and friendly, but the 2nd SA wasn't even helping me. I am really puzzled as to how this outfit is any good. Looking at the pic I think it's much worse than I looked in the mirror (and note to self: needs new bra). I don't think this is outfit i'd repeat. Are the SAs just trying to be nice, a tactic or something?

2nd outfit is WIW today. The angle makes the skirt look lopsided. It's slightly aline. I wanted to copy Angie's blue shirt/citron skirt outfit, but I don't have a nice colorful pencil. I think the skirt is getting a little tight so it's riding a bit high; and the blue cami doesn't look good probably should have gone with white instead. What do you think how to improve this? Any comments/suggestions welcome.

I actually like the green outfit too. I like how your top picks up the green in the skirt. The skirt itself is interesting and colorful.

But I will say that I prefer outfit 2, which looks more polished to me. I like the idea of wearing a white cami instead of blue. But other than that, I think it looks great!

I think the green outfit looks great on you too, and I am guessing it is a really good color on you. I think people often respond to how our clothes make our faces look more than directly to our clothes and this color makes you look energetic and vibrant.

I actually like the green outfit a lot! The color and silhouette look great on you, and the neutral belt and sandals keep it from being overwhelming. The shades match so well that it really looks cohesive -- almost like a dress.

i agree with the others, that color looks great on you. and the outfit has a relaxed summer time vibe to it. a definite contrast to #2, which has a much more structured feel. i don't know your style well enough to know which is more you, but i think they could both have a place in your life.
as i'm typing this, I'm wondering if you could combine the green tee from #1 with the skirt from #2?

The colour of 1 looks great on you. I don't think it is a bad outfit at all. 2 is nice also.

Well. The proportions are great, and the colour green suits you. It's a good little look. Of course you were complimented. And Shevia makes a good point. People often respond to colour. It evokes emotion. Case in point.

I adore outfit #2. An even better look proportion-wise to my eye. Loafers are fab and you have great shapely legs. Is that a bow on the waistband? How fun. xo

What Angie and Shevia said! I think the green is a vibrant colour that looks wonderful on you, so people are probably responding to that as much as anything else. Aubergine is also right that there is cohesion to the first outfit and that is also appealing.

Love the green colors on you, but I like the proportions in #2 better. It appears you may be short-torsoed, like me, and the contrasting belt may be accentuating that. I avoid this kind of belt for that reason. Still, you look lovely!

I think the energy in the color of #1 suits you well -- not that you should feel compelled to wear brights all the time, but they work well with your features and coloring. The belt adds structure and a modern touch, as does the midi length and the neutral shoe.

I like #2 quite well, and am glad to see A-lines returning again -- they work well for most body types, and are so comfy. I agree that a white cami would be best, but the blue probably just doesn't photograph as well.

I love the first outfit ! First of all- the color ! It takes confidence and shows a certain "Joie De Vie " to be able to wear color like that... you are jumping out of the box ! Rockin...
I think the first outfit better reflects your facial lines - with the round neck. I am not sure about the interface between the two... but it is not bad - you are short waisted like myself so I don't think this elongates it... but again... not bad.
The skirt links up nicely with the color.

On the second... pick up the color quotient with a bright necklace or belt or purse or shoes - Bright bright bright .. I think the neckline is a bit sharp but OK. Show your color spark here !
