WIW - Art challenge!

I chose the Rita Angus painting Cass for my inspiration. I looked at the colours - faded browns, lilac shadows and blues and the textures- rough and smooth. I didn't get any terracotta in nor green - and I hope to try this again during the week and incorporate them.

I did like this outfit - the fur, the textured sweater and the lilac all seemed harmonious.

Looking forward to seeing others during the week.

Sal I really like your interruptation of Cass. Like you, I looked at the colors but could not figure out yet how to incorporate them all. You captured the texture. The colors are soft, faded and rather sophisticated.

This is such a great and unusual winter outfit Sal. Love the soft colours and the variation of textures. The blue jeans give an interesting unusual element. I can see your inspiration in your outfit and think you have nailed the challenge. And you look fab!

Wow! I love this look - really sophisticated and a little sensual . Maybe it's the textures.
I have an ombré scarf in cream to burgundy that I don't wear much - it doesn't go as well with my blacks, greys and navy as i had expected . But maybe I should try it with pale as you have done here ! I don't have beige but will try my one cream jumper ... thanks for the inspiration !

I loved Jussie's description of "very luxe-glamazon-Hollywood-eccentric." What a complement.

When I saw CocoLion's comment about this being one of your best ever, I had to go back and really examine your ensemble. I have to agree. There is something about this ensemble that is stellar. I couldn't decide if it was one element or a multitude of things coming together in harmony.

Thank you all for the lovely compliments. I would not have put the colours together except for the artwork so I am pleased I did so.

I tend towards higher contrast looks I think - and do wear quite a bit of black. I was pleased to get this one right and will wear it again.

Thanks Sterling, Jussie and Cocolion - what kind words. The coat is a real statement and a lot of fun to wear - I do feel quite conspicuous in my neck of the woods in it though.

I am someone who can pick good colour combinations when they are in front of me but is not always great at choosing them alone. I guess I should use art or nature more as inspiration - I do copy combinations that I see on other forum members too.

Lucy - I will look out for your scarf. It is fun to experiment and see how it works out. Watch out for Brooklyn though - she is always on the prowl for more ombre:) I am wearing this lilac more than I thought I would

JAileen - I think parts of NZ could be similar to Northern California in landscape....Interesting - I have been to San Francisco and the Monterey Coast but that is as far north in California that I have travelled.

Thanks Aida - yes bold and elegant definitely there and I added in relaxed rather than dramatic!! Even my most structured outfits have some ease or softness to them - through my hair, my makeup or bag. I like some drama but it didn't quite feel right.

I agree - this outfit does meet that descriptor.
