WIW - a new dress

Hurray! it's warm enough to wear a dress without tights. I've been shopping recently and a few items that were needed in my closet were dresses. I found this LOFT dress on sale for a great price so I had to have it. This LOFT dress with its a-line shape suits my figure well. It's stretchy enough to hide the lumps, and I can wear it on my bike commuting to work (plus leggings for modesty purposes).

New items:
#1 - Loft dress and shoes
#4 - Frye flats (new from Ebay)
#6 - Kate Spade bag

old items:
#7 - Raincoat is Nine West and really old. I'd love to find something similar and vintage-y. Any suggestions?

#5 - warm weather = humid = frizzy hair. Ack! Short hair seems really tempting.

That's a great dress and sounds easy to wear. I have a very similar black trench from Gap via thrift store. It is a favorite. If vintage is ok, you could try consignment shops or thrift shops.

Thanks Joy. I do like vintage but DC does not have good vintage clothing stores like they used to back in the 80s and early 90s. Most of them are consignment shops. I'll keep a lookout though.

Do you have a style in mind during your grow-out? That can help you stay goal focused. Is there a specific reason you wanted to go longer? On the other hand, if you are ambivalent, returning to your ( signiture) short do might be the thing . Short does seem to work with your ( active) life style.

I've seen short French bobs - Amelie style, as being a 2017 fashion mag trend that might suit you. I wish I could do them, but I have too much curl and volume

I have those shoes in distressed metallic...they are beyond comfy and flattering!

You are lucky you can get away without having the change when you bike commute. it makes it so much more appealing!

I may end up working only 2.5 miles from my house. HOWEVER, commuting would require riding through rain and wind, over hills and more hills...PLUS, now new since last I commuted, one section of the bike train is encompassed by a homeless encampment. a female rider was accosted on the trail just last week...SIGH. so lame.

I love the dress - looks so comfy, yet pulled together! I hear you on the hair front. I've been trying to grow mine for a year and am so tempted to chop it! I think your hair looks good, not frizzy. Perhaps we notice our own frizz more??

Love the dress - and I bet it will look great with tights for cooler temperatures. My favorite trench is from the consignment shop Current Boutique (Alexandria location) - perhaps the one in D.C. would be worth checking out.

RunCarla - I'm growing it out just because I've never had longer hair, but it does a lot more work. I always prided myself in having a hair "style" and now it's like everyone else's at work. I do like the shorter bob and am considering it although my hair has big waves too. I have those same hairdos save son my interest account.

Jenava - sorry to have problems with your bike commute. I also have to deal with crazy bicyclists, pedestrians, and cars that refuse to "see" you. I only have a 3 mile commute and of the 3, the 2 miles is within danger zone. Hah!!
