WIW - a bit of shine

Recent lifestyle changes and persistent foot issues made me realize that I might need to adjust my shoes preferences. Since I’m limited in my style choices, I should add more personality through color and texture. Color is challenging for me, I still love the look of black shoes with almost everything but I don’t want a wardrobe full of black sneakers (unfortunately, my most worn type of fall/spring shoes).

Hence the new addition - metallic leather sneakers. I like that leather is slightly crinkly and will be more so with age, adds a bit of texture. It is not pewter yet but silver is a little tinted. It is a departure for me. When I look at them, holding in my hands, I like them. When I walk around, find them a bit too bright. Wore them for a second time today. Still unsure if I will regret the purchase. Got a compliment on them, though
I know that there are some fans of metallic leather shoes here but those who are just dipping a toe, so to speak, what is your opinion on it?

I love this look, Irina. I like how the sneakers go with the bag. I can relate to feeling like silver shoes are somehow too bright on me, but your new sneakers look like the slightly muted silver that I find much easier to wear. They don't look too bright to me, for your overall palette. I hope you enjoy them. I have a few pairs of silver shoes that I enjoy wearing.

KILLER new sneakers, Irina! Personally, I think they make your outfit shine

LOVE the way they add punch to the dark neutrals, and co-ordinate with the bag!

Fantastic sneakers - so jealous ( I used to have a pair but can't wear it anymore - Morton's neuroma ). Your pair looks great paired with metallic bag and black outwear - black shoelaces help a lot to tone brightness down. Enjoy wearing it!

I like them, and I don't love all metallic shoes. The soccer styling is popular right now too .

I saw a woman today who was wearing the most outstanding muted gold chelsea boots with a black sole and black elastic inserts and I nearly died. A couple of months ago I bought a pair of what I thought were a muted silver sneaker with white soles and laces and I just can't deal with them right now. Somehow I think they'll be better in spring /summer.

Did you change the laces from the natural to the black in your photo?

I really like them, but then I would - I have multiple pairs of metallic shoes. But as Slimcat pointed out, the black laces do make them feel less bright. I hope you keep them.

Slim Cat, thanks! The bag is not metallic, though, just plastic. That would be definitely too much for me!

LJP, thanks! Yes, I did change the laces to black. I love an understated look with beige laces and it looks cool with neutrals. Wish I had another pair to keep it laced with beige, black is just more practical for my wardrobe. Earlier this year, I ordered Adidas OG in silver with black stripes. They look perfect on the website but were too shiny IRL. Returned. Hope I will used to these ones

The bag has light color with black accent and harmonizes with outfit well ( you are right - metallic would make it brighter ).
Wondering now - which brand are those fab sneakers and where they are sold ?

These are great-looking sneakers. But then, you know, I have the magpie gene, and am all-in on silver/ pewter footwear, partly because it is bookending for me.. Here, I think they work extremely well against the dark neutrals and especially with your bag.

Also, I am sorry about the foot issues. NOT fun! I hope there is a chance of improvement....

They look good to me. I like the black laces. I think they tame the silver and make them more cohesive with your outfits. I have two pairs of silver shoes (oxfords and sandals) and like the mostly with neutrals like you are wearing here.

These get two big thumbs up from me! The metallic leather sneakers pair perfectly with your bag and while they add a little color and interest to your outfit, they are not overpowering.

I added gold slip on sneakers this season and have been very pleased with how versatile metallic footwear is.

Slim cat, the sneakers are from Massimo Dutti, where I buy a lot of my shoes. This is the Zara’s upper line. There used to be 3 or 4 stores in Toronto, now down to one. I mostly order online.

Suz, thanks. Unfortunately, there are no chances to any improvements in foot/leg issues due to age (bunions and loss of tissue) and injury (screws that hold my left ankle together). So, I’m improvising

I agree that going from wearing black footwear most of the time to something a bit shinier and metallic can feel quite strange at first, but actually they look really nice. The black laces with the metallic works great with your bag. Its challenging finding comfortable yet stylish footwear but I think you’ve found a great option with this choice.

I think they look good Irina, and I like the black laces. My black Skechers are my most worn shoes also. I wore Art Deco type sandals to take granddaughter to the mall today but then changed to Skechers for the playground. It is what it is.
I have been interested in silver boots since looking at Suz’s ones, but they have to wait until I wear out some other boots! I have 2 pair silver sandals that I like.

I like them, Irina, and particularly love the black laces. I don’t wear silver, but I do wear textured antique gold oxfords that I love. I like shoes, bags and outerwear to add the zing to my otherwise neutral outfits.

If I didn’t already have enough sneakers, I might look for platform burnished gold ones.

Like you Irina I would be wary of a bright metallic for myself ... These are the perfect solution, they add the interest and a bit of lightness, but they are not bright or statement-y ... A quieter metallic that works well with your minimalist style. Great pick!

I have also looked at silver sneakers and hesitated because of the brightness. These don't look too bright on you though. I like the darker sole and think that helps tone it down and maybe the texture does as well. I quite like these.

Helena, thanks! You are absolutely right. There is a balance I would like to keep - to add some interest to my shoe collection but not too statement-y. I love subtle details
RobinF, yes! A bit of tint in silver, low profile, darker soles might make these sneakers look not too much.

I really like them, Irina! Maybe it is just a matter of giving your eye a chance to adjust. (I still feel a little weird when I wear my white booties, even though I get compliments on them.)

I especially like them with the coordinating bag, and good idea to change the laces to black -- really makes them harmonize with your clothing.

I like the silver sneakers especially with the black laces. I have silver loafers with some black and I feel the black tones down the silver.

I am trying to eliminate sliver and add more gold, but silver is easier to accessorize. I have very similar silver sneakers. My silver jeans are gone. They no longer fit and need to be replaced if I decide to continue with silver. I have more silver than gold. December will settle the question. Silver will be worn with grey until replaced.
