WIW - 70s Earthy Business Casual, bonus kitty hind end

Hello fabbers!

We got a great compliment today, so I had to share it with you. I attended my weekly business networking meeting and a sharp-dressed lady complimented my outfit. Another sharp-dresser said, "Yeah, Julie, you've been wearing some really cute things lately." So of course I told her about YLF, and gave her the scoop. It was so gratifying, and I really thought you all should know what a profound effect your help is having on my life! And you know, it's not so much that I own many new items, it's HOW I wear them that is making the difference.

Hubs says I look like a girl from the 70s, which is my favorite fashion era ever. I am not quite PPL, but I like to think I am PPPL, which is "practically perfect pants length". I also present to you the hind end of Pfeffernüsse, our dear kitty. And the YLF debut of my peacock faux-suede bag, which I dearly love and would never have had the cojones to wear without my fabulous fashion buddies lighting the way. Hubs picked it out, wow!

What a great example of how retro touches can be made fresh and modern! Makes me think of Angie's blog post today! You look polished, but relaxed. BTW --- the pants seem OK. Keeping the pants and boots the same color makes for a longer leg line without floor-grazing length!

Thistle - yeah, that's a good man I got. He doesn't even know how amazing his taste is, he just thinks it's normal to pick out stunning objects.

Cobalt - glad you liked the blouse. It is machine-washable, never needs ironing, and has this satiny finish. The only caveat is it is rather static-clingy, but as long as I wear a cottony camisole all is well. I love your login name.

Rae - so glad you enjoyed our young kitty. The name Pfeffernüsse is a recent one for her (previous name "Cat") when we got a box of cookies from Trader Joe's. ha ha We have the name "Nutmeg" picked out for our next dog. I guess we like food, ya think?

Deborah - you are wise. Silhouettes seem to be very crucial to my style, as the right one makes me look so much taller (ha ha, I'm all of 5'0"), and more slender. I think 2013 is going to be the "Year of the Silhouette" for me. Thanks for pointing that out, Hold on, I think I'm having an epiphany, courtesy of your comments.

Omigosh Julie - I LOVE your posts and so look forward to them! Your outfit is fantastic from top to PPPL bottom! The patterned blouse under the jacket is just lovely and your blue bag is TDF! That colour just pops doesn't it? And I love the boho detailing on it.

Hmm. I just had a thought -- what a shame about those cobalt boots not workout out. Could have been a chapter from Puss in Boots!

I'm so on-board with the '70s being the best era. Had to click on your link to see "earthy business casual" because that is definitely something I'd like to know how to do. And I do believe you've showed me! Hands down, I may love this outfit of yours best so far. It really is exactly that: earthy and yet for real business casual.

Also: I have really really got to go home and say "Pfeffernüsse" to my dog. It's probably why she doesn't speak English... I just go up to her and say words that I like the sound of! Lol.

I love the brown with that blouse (pink? coral?) as I'm always looking for low-contrast colors to combine with brown. Well done!

Ding ding ding, we have a winner! Tarzy, you noticed my "stealth joke", thank you for validating my silliness. I was waiting for somebody to notice. (tee hee) I will try to sprinkle in more of these in future,

Sing it Earthy Sister! The blouse is actually red and cream, kind of a "candy stripe" pattern. But at a distance it is low-contrast to the brown, kinda medium shaded, if that makes sense.
