WIW - 01.09.2014 - Quintuplet

I beleive this sweater makes me a YLF quintuplet!

I do wonder if any of my fellow sisters have had a lot of issues with this top pilling? (they call it a sweater, but it isn't). I spent 20 minutes depilling this last night. I am not sure it will make it more than 1 year as it is getting a bit worn. I have handwashed it twice and laid it flat to dry, but maybe I am doing something wrong with it.

Amber sun color blocked sweater (Angie pick), two layers underneath for warmth, British kahki trousers from Talbots, and Munro booties (also Angie's pick). Finished off with my Movodo watch.

Heheh....I am SO with you on the "sweater/ top" distinction. For me it is definitely a "top." Oh, and I also love to bookend this one with the Munro booties.

Mine hasn't exactly pilled....but along the sides under the arms it has the look that sweaters...er, excuse me, tops get just before they pill. So I can tell it's an item that is not going to look pristine for more than a season. I thought that right away when I bought it, but I was so in love with the colours (and the price was also right) and felt I could use a fall-and-winter coloured lighter knit for transitional weather and under jackets, so I went with it anyway. I did feel a bit disappointed at how flimsy it seemed.

I wash mine in the machine in a mesh bag in cold, on the delicate cycle, and hang it to dry. I figure I will get one more year of it this way. A lot of fashion knits seem to be like this -- they just don't last. It's frustrating, because in our climate we simply need them.

Hmm, mine isn't pilling, but maybe I haven't worn it as much as you have. I actually think I've only washed mine once, since I wear a thin underlayer beneath it and I generally try to wash things as infrequently as possible.

I actually like the thinner weight, since I'm a big fan of layering for warmth rather than one thick layer that I can't remove as I warm up.

This sweater is so fab. I'm sorry to hear it has a pilling habit. It looks wonderful with the trousers and booties. Is something rubbing against it that may be causing the pills? I recently noticed that one sweater with pilling was being kept on top of other sweaters in a drawer. When the drawer was opened and closed, it rubbed on the top of the sweater where the pilling was occurring. It is now deeper in the drawer with a cotton knit on top.
