WIW -- Feelin' a Change Comin' On

I'm feeling an urge for calm, simpler looks. I still love pattern and color, but I'm wanting to let one item shine at a time. I'm not sure what this means for Spring, but I've beginning looking back through outfit pics to sort things out.

I gave myself a challenge of "Wearing Winter Out." Basically, I'm trying to give my heavier, darker clothes one last twirl. When the snow melts this weekend, I'll be moving into my "Transitional" wardrobe, which is my favorite.

Sorry about the creepy "flash eyes!"

I started off with

1. I thought the top was longer than the jacket, but it moves during the day, and here it looks the same length. I did like the the overall effect with my suede boots and the bfs. Next time, I'll opt for a semi tuck.

2. An effort to wear my tall boots and the corduroy jacket. I'd love for this sweater dress to be 2 inches longer! I really wanted to wear the black (transitional) jacket, which has a more modern ,streamlined look. So, when I came home.....

3/4. I taught from home in the black jacket, both with and without the scarf. Love the purple color in the other jacket, but this second look feels more me.

You are giving the dark colors a great last hurrah. I like all of these. I love the longer black jacket with the dress. The proportions are perfect to my eye. IKWYM about wanting the hem of the shirt and the jacket to be different lengths but I think it still looks fab. Something about the texture and print against the blue denim is just so perfect! LOVE that casual outfit

Beth Ann, I love to see your different stylings with these two great jackets. Glad they are having another outing before the spring. My favourite is the most simple #4 because it really accentuates your great shape. I also the the purple jacket style with the BF jeans. Wonderful polished casual look!

Good job wearing your winter clothes to their fullest! I'll bet you're looking forward to the transition though. Love these looks. You are so pretty in shades of purple and plum. The fact that your top is long (in outfit #1) gives you wiggle room. If it started out short, who knows where the length would have ended up, lol! Your dress with boots is gorgeous too. I love the last look with the longer blazer and no scarf. You have a pretty neckline, and spring's a comin' so you won't need to bundle up as much. I'm feeling a shift towards simpler outfits as well, though you couldn't call my style minimalist.

love #1. those purples/violets/fuchsias bring so much light to your face. I agree with you- I'm giving my winter clothes a last huzzah. Yes spring is round the corner but living in clime slike we do the majority of our wardrobe is fall/winter so want to wear those items to their fullest.

I am moving toward longer jackets and simpler lines in general. I'm not likely to become a minimalist either, Claire, but I'm definitely wanting to do more with less, if you know what I mean.

I really love the colors of the print blouse with the jacket in #1. Perfect way to ease into spring.

Purple/plum looks so awesome on you. I really like that sweater dress, and I like how you changed things up with the jackets.

I posted a little while ago about feeling like there were a lot of simpler, more streamlined looks here. I'm not enough of a statistics person to tell if it's newer people (like Raisin) or veterans changing that feel, but I'm enjoying it! And spring is a perfect time to lighten up, right?

I do love #3 because of it's simplicity! The grey and black work so well together too. Can't get over the plum on you though, that's a super fab color for you!

BF's tucked into boots are my favourite. so much fun. You wear dresses so well as your lovely shape really shines through. The longer jacket in #4 is doing wonders to the proportions and I need to learn more about this topic.

Love everything about 1 even given your hesitation about the shirt length. The boyfriends, the suede boots and plum really complement each other. The semi-tuck would be a nice added zip to the look. I too prefer the longer jacket with your sweater dress - terrific!

I love both sweater dress outfits. I do something similar at the end of winter. I like to re-wear my favorite outfits that I won't have a chance to wear again once the weather warms up. I don't have to be creative since they are re-wears and I feel great in them since they are all my favorites from the past season.

Beth Ann, I get so excited when I see your posts. You are SO moving into your perfect style zone. You have honed in on what you admire and what looks great on you (oh, how I love your Pinterest...) and it is working, working, WORKING!!! The gentle curves in your clothing flatter your own curves. But the structure shows your intelligence and authority. I cannot pick a favourite. It's just the opposite of "creepy eyes" for me. Looking at your outfits gives me happy eyes.

Suz -- thanks so much for your kind words. I'm at the stage where I can sense where I'm going, but I can't really put it into words (rare for a singer), and I can't always find the items I'm seeking. Time to be patient and remember to have fun with fashion!

All great looks. Particularly like the BF & suede boots in #1. I don't think the dress needs to be longer I like it that long.
