I've been drawn to simple silhouettes this past week. Perhaps this is the influence of viewing old fashion photos -- particularly candid and publicity photos of Old Hollywood of Katherine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.
Now, I bear no resemblance to these icons, but I was struck by the fact that they weren't pushing the boundaries, but using them to their benefit --- creating outfits that were perfection, but perfectly approachable.
1. Church. Doesn't God know that it's 10F? Yes, otherwise I'd be commuting to work instead of sitting inside a toasty church building. Here's my toasty outfit:
Riding boots
Ponte pencil skirt (Carson Pririe Scott)
Purple cordoroy blazer (very old)
Target scarf
The pattern mixing is a bit hectic, but I was feeling color near my face.
2. Basketball Mom! I hadd to be scorekeeper for the kids' games yesterday. Gulp! This is part of my blue craze, and I'll probably be wearing it a lot come spring. It was 43 yesterday when I wore this -- and the gymnasium is quite warm, as well.
Denizen by Levi bootcuts from Target (these are great)
Sweater with silver lurex thread from Kohls
Olivia Moon Ponte jacket
Black Booties from DSW
3. Very classic day at work. And yes, this is the lighting in my studio. Soul killing, isn't it? I must get some artwork for the walls, but it isn't my space (shared with others).
I love the shirt (the stripes are fresh, I think), and I upsized for more length. But it's still a little short. Will I have to order talls? Mens? The close up of the necklaces: 2 were purchased on a precious trip to China. The other was my sweet 16 present. They are sentimental favorites, but are they a little twee?
Trouser jeans (really blue, not black)
gray moc-croc low heeled pumps
Chaps no-iron shirt (Kohls)
Vest --- Old, from Kohls
What should I do more of? Less of?
