Isabel, I really don't have any experience with Vans, so it would be impossible for me to compare the two. I would describe my feet as slightly narrow, a moderate arch, and on the low-volume side, but not extremely so. My heels are narrow, so many pumps and flats slip right off my heels. Lace-up styles and higher vamps usually work better for me for that reason. I hope that helps!

I can chime in on the Vans question - as it sounds like Janet and I have very similar feet. I have a pair of Vans - and they are pretty wide, but I find Supergas that way too. Not too wide to wear, but they have a wide look on the foot. I stick a little silicone pad in mine for comfort as they aren't very padded inside, and that makes them really comfortable. I did a few long airport walks in them and loved them! Quality-wise - about the same.

Lisa makes a good point -- I put innersoles in many of my shoes to compensate for a slightly low-volume foot. That helps some of those wider shoes fit better, and helps comfort!

Both new pairs are going get a lot of use. But your shoe wall. I am in awe.

Thank you Janet and Lisa p, especially useful since it sounds like our feet are very similar.

I looooove those oxfords, and they're perfect for you! (We have some definite overlap in taste, Ms. Badarse Sophisticate... teal is one of my favorite colors, too, though right now it shows up more in my home decor than in my closet.) I love how the color echoes the colored accents in your hair.

I was also laughing along with your "permission to cull" comment. I do the exact same thing... sometimes even when we want to get rid of something, we *know* it isn't right for us, we just need someone to tell us it's okay to let it go. Hm. That probably applies to more than just physical things, too...

They are irresistible shoes, the socks are cool with them. Such good colours and your hair is lovely as ever.

Hi Janet --

D'Orsay oxfords -- very intriguing way to add a romantic touch to the tougher elements.

That rich metallic blue is so lovely, too.

Both these shoes fit right in with your style and palette so enjoy wearing them!

I find both pairs look extreemely cute on you.

Group: have you found blue shoes to be surprisingly useful? I’ve never tried blue shoes but had a teal purse that worked like magic with everything.

Janet: you mentioned you may be getting rid of Matisse booties. Those are so great looking, but are they uncomfortable?

I find blue shoes very useful! But I wear blue denim a LOT, and blue is heavily featured in my wardrobe, as it's one of my best colors. Blue shoes seem to do a neat little trick of looking more intentional than the standard black, while also acting as a neutral. They function as neutral or as color depending on what I'm wearing.

Jessikams, I would not say the Matisse booties are uncomfortable. The heel is not too high. I guess I'm just reaching for other shoes these days, even when I do wear a bit of a heel. Maybe I'm not as much of a leopard print person these days? Or maybe it's the slanted wedge heel that's not feeling quite so me lately. I did wear the red ones not too long ago with bootcuts, which really only showed the toes. I should try wearing them and see how I feel.

Love both of these on you. I have been noticing the cut out sides on quite a few styles this year, kind of fun and new.

Now 8 am really feeling my wardrobe hole of blue shoes. Both pairs are great and I love your shoe wall. I feel a shoe purge coming on.i tend to keep them forever, just in case, even when I don’t really like them.

What fantastic finds, Janet. They both seem just right, so "you".
