WIW…auditioning a travel outfit

It was suggested that I add a skirt to my travel capsule https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....in-england , so I chose a black skirt because it ‘goes’ with many of the other things I’m packing. Below are the ‘Finds’ of an ensemble I put together using the skirt.

In photos #1+2 I’m wearing a navy sweater (not a T-shirt per the ensemble) and I forgot to style it with the belt cinching the jacket. The ensemble is intended for casual - thus the combat boots. I could dress things up for an event by wearing the point toe pumps that go with the wedding outfit. (I’m bringing no more than 3 pair of shoes).

Not sure how successful the outfit is? Changed up the heavier boots for high shaft heeled boots for Bridge night (#3)

I like the version you wore for bridge!

I don't think it is unsuccessful...but for me, it would feel awfully dark for this time of year. That's entirely personal, though, and you might feel absolutely fine in it.

I think ideally the proportions of the jacket would be a bit shorter with the. skirt, but if you belt it, that would be the effect and it might be really cool.

The bridge version - very nice! One of your fab scarf might add enough lightness ( something with the white color, or beige and green ).

I actually prefer it with the combat boots! (The bridge night version works too, just offering a vote of confidence for the travel version.) Very Dark Academia Gentlewoman to my eye.

I like it both ways. To me navy is a spring colour, but my caveat is that the sun has to actually be shining… and where I’m at, it’s pouring rain with hail a possibility. Lol. SMH. California has four seasons… they just change every four days… *sigh*

I like the last version with high shaft boots. It looks contemporary and elegant. Try maybe with a different top under the blazer, something that stays flat with the buttoned blazer. But overall, I think it’s a fab outfit.

Definitely a good option if you think you would wear it.

Both versions seem to work well, but my preference would be to try a lighter colour top or scarf with the blazer just to offset such a dark colour combo.

What Dee just said, a little lightness and contrast in the top would be good. Pink, even.
Love the skirt with both boots, and the jacket looks very comfy and so useful! been looking at suits because of you, Runcarla, and because I very occasionally need to look like a grown up. And stay comfortable. Your suit is getting such a workout, it is inspiring.
Whichever pair of boots is the most comfy, I would take.

Well I love it, and I am not big a fan of tulle skirts personally - I am actually getting some 90s goth vibes off this, especially with the combat boots - but in an updated and dare I say "age appropriate" way so don't let the word goth scare you off! It's more of a vibe/nod.

I agree with Suz about the belt and Angie about #3, but wear/bring whatever footwear works best for comfort/packing. The colours are great, I wear black or navy all year.

(As an aside, I haven't been keeping track of all the replies and posts, why are the yellow slingbacks not coming?)

@ those who find the outfit (and my travel capsule) too dark. I agree. Especially after watching London street style videos on YouTube! (Lots of white jeans!) I’m going to sub in my cream cotton sweater for the navy. It works with the ensembles where I was planning to use the navy…

@ BlueJay - I didn’t find a dress for the wedding that would work with the yellow sling backs, but thrifted one that is purple on a black background and got new black pumps (which I needed anyway.) The sling backs will get worn - no worries! - just need temps to warm up!

I really like both of these outfits, especially the stompy boots, which are giving me Brooklyn vibes. I like your idea of a belt in #1/2, because I think that balances the heaviness of the boots.

It works for me. I like #3 but it could just be the pose. Don't mind the dark and, not for the trip, would also like to see the skirt with a shorter jacket.
