So I follow a local Nordstrom stylist on Instagram @justinleggo
Recently he posted a video of statement jackets, at the end he showed a possible holiday outfit. The pictures are the best I could do as screenshot of paused video.
Anyways it’s a Celine sequined hoodie and a ruffled midi-maxi skirt.
I made the mistake of looking up the price of the hoodie, it’s north of $3000. Like I said wishful holiday dressing. I scoured the internet for anything similar to the hoodie, even resale sites & came up empty (at least in a lower price & my size)
I figured I’d at least share the look
Also highly considering these boots

Great look and interesting skirt. What is it - do you know? This type of boot is everywhere - and I'm feeling a little left out by the trend - haha.

I think the dress, not the hoodie, is what makes that outfit cool. Or actually the combination, but I think it’s easier to sub in a different hoodie (without an ad) than another dress like that.

But the boots! This is one of several pairs I ordered yesterday (then found them cheaper on Salamander’s own website, but it wouldn’t process the order. Oy vey!).

Um, SF, I did say I looked and was unsuccessful, also I don’t mind the logo.
Lisa, unfortunately he didn’t say the brand of the skirt, I couldn’t find it on the Nordies site, nor the hoodie. But given the price point & designers he features, it wouldn’t be cheap at all

Rachylou, no one modeled it. He twisted and turned it, it didn’t appear to be sheer, but seems to be fully sequined.

In any case, it looks sheer to me - like I can see the dress behind it. I have bad eyes, but it looks like sheer over velvet to me. I like it a whole lot.

I think you could come up with a spin off if you analyze the pieces and their relationship to each other. Once I started analyzing this outfit myself, I saw some things that I thought were kind of subtle.

For example, even though they're extreme contrast color wise they're connected by not just the logo but the glittery-on-soft fabrics.

If you're ok with logos, Balmain has some sequined sweatshirts in the men's dept.

The look is certainly aspirational. I believe that it might very well be worth a sustained search for a sequinned hoodie (and holding out for good quality, non-itchy sequins) since sequins might go the way of real fur due to plastic/sustainability/environmental issues. It would become both a statement and an investment piece. I think you can do it well - and more affordable than $3000 - which is pretty steep.

Yeah I think you’re right about the skirt, white sequins are a bit harder to see. I watched it again, and the skirt is Simone Rocha.

ETA: that’s a way better price than I found… that’s doable. And I think SF is perhaps right, that the skirt is most key… not to be devil’s advocate… (eta: that is, not to peer pressure you into buying the skirt )

RL, not trying to bedevil anyone, just offer encouragement on a couple pieces. I’m obviously missing something though—can’t see the sequins at all. Are they on the logo, or the whole top?

I was just looking at some Marc Fisher boots that are similar — a little less chunky but the vibe is there.

I like the idea of the double-sequin ensemble for holiday wear. Especially the skirt. Yikes on the $3k price for a sequin sweatshirt! I bet it is hard to find the same vibe for a reasonable price. I have had a really hard time finding sequin tops that are not scratchy or cheap-looking or ill-fitting. I just put an old sequin top in the sell/donate pile because I realized every holiday party/event photo for the last five years has me wearing that top, LOL. I think I’m officially tired of it. If I see something promising I’ll let you know.

I like the boots a lot! The look is super fun. I am all in favour of sequinned hoodies. I had a much less aspirational BR sequinned sweatshirt a while back and wow, I loved that thing and wore it into the ground.

I love the boots - am always attracted to that style. I have Everlane rain boots in olive and black but will snap up a white pair when I see it one day. Outfit is tricky because the details are what elevate it.

Like I said wishful dressing. From what I can tell Simone Rocha doesn’t make anything anywhere near my size, unless I track down some resell stuff from the H&M collection.
A fully sequined hoodie would be really cool, something to look for.
But honestly this is far more realistic on multiple levels

SF - so why jump in with a response that 1) suggests a hoodie “without an ad” when that wasn’t the point ? The logo is the look here . Also , it’s a skirt , not a dress , and if you can’t see the details , why dive in without enough information , or without really reading the original post ?? I don’t think she was looking for her outfit to be corrected. It’s frustrating to see posts derailed this way as it happens so often .

Lisa, well, if I can’t see the sequins, I can’t exactly know I’m missing the sequins, can I? I had no idea the logo was the point—that amazing skirt seems to be the centerpiece to me, as well as the juxtapositions of these pieces against each other. As far as “derailing”, I agreed that it’s a cool outfit and said (implicitly) that I think they’re cool boots—I’ve ordered similar myself.
The skirt is amazing, very unique (whether it is a skirt or dress is beside the point when it’s worn with a pullover). Angie and others have offered suggestions of tops that are similar to the one in the original outfit, without that price tag (or logos), but that bottom half seems to be pretty much one of a kind/without parallel.

In other words, the “derailing” is in the eye/mind of the beholder. Some might say complaining about real life details in WIWs like reading glasses is derailing.

Anna, I love this so much for you! The skirt makes me think of WestWorld (which I binge-watched and am still Boston-Terrier-level obsessed with). This outfit is shrieking “Anna”, and it would be amazing to recreate this outfit in a way that captures the essence of the original.

The way he has the Celine hoodie draped makes me think of a bomber jacket. From the back, I thought of “windbreaker”. So those might be good search terms to yield up similar pieces that don’t cost the same as a mortgage payment. Also, “ sequin prairie skirt” might bring up something. Or try “embellished”.

ETA - I googled “sequin prairie skirt” and a lot of options came up at different price points. Not knowing your budget, color preferences or measurements, im handing this search back to you. But I did see “boho” and “hippie” pop up in several of the skirt titles.

“Sequin hooded jacket” brought up quite a lot on Google, also.
