Every year I tried to put together a small capsule of dressy winter things. And I fail year after year. I understand that I need to change the criteria for it but don’t know how. I hope that maybe a collective mind will lead me to some answers.

Here is what I’m searching for:
- warm tops that don’t look too casual (I wear my cream cashmere turtleneck but would like an alternative)
What it can not be:
- thin tops, since I run cold.

- tops with wide sleeves that are problematic under a coat

- dresses since I can’t wear tall boots
- blazers since I rarely find one that fits

My color palette is limited but I’m ready to compromise and wear something synthetic or mixed fiber.
On the picture below is a Zara suit. I tried the jacket and it didn’t work - fabric is a bit too thin and the fit was off. I never intended to wear it with pants but after returning the jacket, decided to order the pants. Going to pick it up tomorrow but have some serious reservations. I’m afraid it will look like a pretentious lounge wear

Honestly, I have to idea what to look for.

So, where I’m going to wear these yet unknown fancy (but not too fancy!) things? We usually go to a concert once a month from October to April, some birthdays and a couple of Holiday parties to attend.

I would appreciate any ideas. Well, maybe not “add a pretty scarf “ kind
