Winter dress challenge

Hi all this is not such a fun time of year for us in the Southern Hemisphere. Work, work, work, recently in NZ ( 1-3 June) had our last long weekend (celebrating the Queen’s birthday, even although her actual birthday is in April) and no more until our Labour Weekend late October. Oh well.
I have given this dress challenge a go anyway. Dress is only second wear, Scope brand on sale at outlet store last November for $20- was too hot until recently.
Scope dress, 2018, second wear.
Minx “button up” boots, 2011, 60th wear. Now $6 per wear as were my most expensive boots ever at $359, still are.
Earrings from market 2014. I also added my fave black Scope jacket later, duplicated that 2018 and 54 wears now.

Thanks, they are a Kiwi brand: Scope clothing. Outlet store about 1 km from my home But the bloke is old, the owner, and will be retiring. I asked him if someone could take it over, he said he was in negotiations to maybe sell the Scope label and the people in China he works with ( for decades he says) would be happy to work with someone else. Just as a business owner myself I felt sad if he just closed down but I suppose he has done his time, made his money and needs to move on with life...

Great dress-but too bad about the shop closing! Winters in the Southern Hemisphere seem to be much milder than ours, but the months that don't have any long weekends just drag on

The winters are pretty mild in my part of the country which is North, more like some of your Southern states ( not as warm as SoCal or Florida though). It is much colder in our South Island where the Southern Alps are. It does RAIN a lot and so can be dreary. We don’t get snow in my city, so when there were a few tiny snowflakes a number of years ago ( maybe 10?) it made the news! And you are right about the dragging on part. I am happy when we get to 21 June (winter solstice) so that at least it will get lighter after that even though 2 months of winter to go.

For us it's normally still mild for winter solstice, Jan and Feb are the bitter cold and still dark months. Its not til spring equinox theres any noticable difference to me!

What an interesting dress! It looks great on you. You holiday situation sounds like winter/spring here. After New Year's Day there are no holiday weekends until late May (Memorial Day). There are a few days that federal employees get in January and February but private companies don't usually give those days off. I always joke that's it a wasteland with nothing to look forward to until summer.

Jenni, this dress is lovely on you. Sad to hear that the owner may be quitting the business, at least you have the great dress and jacket. I am always much happier once we get past the winter solstice too. At the moment I leave home for work it’s dark and dark when I get home too.

I really like this dress and I think this shape is very flattering on you. You should get more dresses lime this. And wear them
My work place celebrates different holidays then rest of the country, and it is nice to have a day off when kids are in school, shops are open and everyone else is working

I love that dress on you! The pattern is perfection with your hair. Sometimes fit and flare can come across as a bit ...hmmm...I don't know...juvenile? But not this dress. This dress looks sophisticated, interesting, and comfortable all at once.

Ha! Thanks Suz! I do have a shorter fit and flare in red which DD2 told me a few years ago was too young for me, too short, that may look a bit juvenile. I have a mind to wear it for the heck of it. Still like it.

J’Aileen, re Queen’s birthday, I think it will be that April is too crowded with holidays, what with Easter. In Australia and NZ we have our main military/war remembrance holiday on 25 April as well, our Anzac Day ( rememberers Gallipoli in WW1). So better to celebrate her birthday at a different time.

I rarely wear dresses in the winter here because it’s always so cold. Maybe SoCal winters will be different.

Like the dress but yes agree on two counts. Firstly on this darkening time of the year. I always feel better when the days start lengthening even though they get colder. One reason I am training for a half marathon right now is to combat those dark weather feelings.
Secondly we just had our last public holiday, WA day, last week and then nothing til the Queen birthday holidays in September. For jaileen. we celebrate it on a different day in various states in Australia and even Britain doesn't have the holiday in April. I think it may have been a previous monarch's birthday though.
