Window-shopping adventure: Rundown of stores

I had some extra time before an appointment today, and roamed around some stores not planning to buy anything. (Okay, I bought a necklace, but nothing else.) Here's what I saw:

Club Monaco: Snore. Really, this visit made me -- the dedicated neutrals-lover -- understand why people get so bored without color. Black, white, gray. Black, white, gray. Lather, rinse, repeat...

Talbots: Saw some of the nice new things BethW was talking about. They have gotten in new warm-weather and transitional items (as opposed to the leather jackets and boots we've all been obsessing over with NAS). Fell off the wagon and bought a necklace from the steep-discount sale items. Refuse to feel guilty.

Zara: MAJOR sale going on. Ridiculous discounts. Anyone with skinny arms looking for a pleather jacket like the one I got last spring, this is your moment.

H&M: Silk tunics in earthy colors. I'm very focused on tunics after seeing Angie's SIL Keri in her cool black-on-black outfit from yesterday's blog post! Also, amazingly, they still had a LOT of the very drape-y, open-front cardigans like this one that I got last spring. Unusual for H&M to keep things in stock that long. Must mean these are extremely, wildly popular, and that I am no longer cool for having one. Or two.

April, good to know about tunics in H&M. I need to check them out. I am on the major lookout for tunics as I do not feel comfortable wearing skinnies without my upper thigh coverage I just hope they are long enough for my height...

Sveta, I hope I didn't mean to dissuade you from wearing skinnies! It's just that those really looked more like jeggings to me. I think you could definitely wear a shorter top with those jeans if they stretch out even just a little bit.

Sveta, I actually tried on a silk tunic, and it was pretty long on me. I don't have your height, but it actually made me wonder whether it was being sold as a dress.

He needs to realize that the options are not "shopping the Zara sale vs. not shopping at all", but "shopping the Zara sale vs. shopping someplace else at full price."

Just went to our H&M today and nothing caught my eye. Do US and Canadian stores have different things? Is it because i live in a smaller city? Or just after shopping NAS last week everything looks so shabby and boring??? or maybe I just cannot shop after work on an empty stomach?

So funny, Sveta -- I had the same thought when I was there yesterday: "I am so spoiled by seeing all the NAS items that nothing looks very appealing."

No silk tunics at your H&M? Give it a week or so -- there were so many in the store I was in that it seemed like they may have just arrived.

April, do you remember how much your drapey cardigan was at H&M. They had lots of colors??? I am trying to avoid shopping but if I know it's there I may stop by.
