“Wild”

That’s my word for 2024. Late entry

I came up with it earlier this week. I overdyed some denim jeans red. The jeans were a bit out there in the first place. They have a very patina-ed look with lots of distressing. (I don’t think they are forum favourites but I love them. I still have a spare pair in the original colour/pattern.)

Anyhow, I deliberately chose red dye to keep the patina of the jeans. Anything with blue in it will lower the contrast of the pattern. So it shouldn’t have surprised me that overdyeing them would amp up that design aspect.

But my first thought was: can I wear these jeans? Should I wear them? Am I going to invite ridicule and judgment and “at her age she should know better” type comments.

Then I tried them on and I LOVE them so much. They are amazing and unique. Unconventional. Unrestrained. Wild.

I can’t wait to wear them.

So that’s how I’d like to approach style this year. Go wild. I think it’s a sexier way of saying: I’m going to do my own thing.
