I need a black and/or white dressy outfit for an upcoming event, a "ball". It is a fund raiser for an organization that helps AIDS patients. In the past I've found interesting outfits at thrift stores. I'm usually one of the more conventionally dressed people there.

I was intrigued by Una's tulle skirt and I went ahead and ordered it ($13 including shipping!). But I needed a Plan B in case it doesn't get here in time.

Then I saw Rabbit's post on Elie Tahari at Kohl's. Even though she didn't generally like the quality of the fabric, I was intrigued by the graphic prints.

The store didn't have a great selection, but they did have the skyline dress and the taxi top, both of which I bought. The SA said she wanted to get the dress. She's 20 YO, so maybe the dress is too young for me? The dress isn't inherently dressy, but I think it's fun and fits the criteria (black and white). It looks OK on me. The top is a fun print also, and I need interesting tops. Right now I have tees and sweaters, and nothing else.
