Between getting dinner on the table and watching the match, a quick WIW of what I am wearing Just for fun. This might be my one and only shot at sporty luxe (ok, only sporty) and the only chance to see me in anything resembling Birkies. For now.

Inspired by the World Cup match between USA and Germany, played as I type, I've reached to my husband's football jerseys pile for the German one. Worn semi-tucked, with my Birkalike home shoes.

What do you think?

Oh my goodness O! You look so cute in this! What are the shoes? They look as though they are textured in some way. I love everything about this - except for the shirt (wrong country!)

LOL, Marley - the birth countries of my husband, my son and mine are all out of the game. No choice with who we're supporting now I'm afraid.
The shoes are by, ahem, German brand Lindenbaum. They are not textured, but have tiny floral silver coloured pattern.

My husband has a jersey. He has a Dutch one too, but I'll leave it for another time

I must admit I don't care much about football, but I do get caught in the atmosphere.

Ooh... Dutch!? At home I always had my brother to borrow from, so I don't have one. Never saw the need to spend so much money on a shirt you only wear a few times. My brother at least got to wear his to training.

I do watch all the big things like WM and EM and I'm always keeping an eye on the German football league to know whether "my" club is in danger to be relegated (or in the other case finally manages to go back to first league). But I'm in no way fanatic about it.

ETA

My cousin has managed to qualify with his team for the German Football Association Cup and they got assigned one of the best first league clubs from last season by lot for the first match. They're going to get trashed of course, but I would have loved to see it. But it is during the time we are in Scotland. They had to ask the nearest first league club if they could use their stadium.

I love it. Sporty and neat.
They've even set up an outdoor viewing party in my city so that everyone can see the match. DS is looking fierce in his patriotic face paint.

Inge :: I usually remove DS's photo after about a day, but since the thread had resurfaced here it is for a little while longer. Plus, you can pretend the bottom two colours are swapped

LACeleste :: I love the atmosphere and it is also a great way to learn about local people - the way they celebrate tells a lot about mentality. I also love WC for completely personal reasons - over the years, significant life events had happened during the World Cups, and the accidental tradition continues this time as we'll move during one

Neel :: I too was thrilled to realise that semi-tuck made this an outfit, rather than just something comfy (sloppy? ) to be around the house in. I actually thought I could go out wearing the jersey next time the match is played.

Cute sporty outfit, very appropriate for the occasion! Love DS's face paint.

All my colleagues and I went to a local pub tow atch the game at the lunchtime, it was lots of fun, though of course people here were disappointed with the outcome.

Chiming back in to say I feel exactly the same way! Lots of personal memories tied to matches over the years. I have 1 degree of separation from a member of the US team and the only thing that got me through the US tie w/ Portugal was the thought that YLF's lovely Isabel was probably happy or at least relieved!
So nice to see great looking DS!
