Hi All: I love this blog and just joined this forum. I am almost 60 and live with husband and dog in a small mountain town not known for its fashion sense. I like comfortable natural fiber clothing in deep earthy rich colors. I'm a retired seamstress and dressmaker so I can alter whatever I buy or make a copy. I'm struggling with finding clothes that fit a long waist, full waist, small ribcage and large bust. My favorite thing to wear is my linen bias cut thin strap nightgowns which I copied from and Under Flax gown from years ago. Alas I cannot wear them out of the house:)

I sometimes think I haven't evolved my style much from high school in the mid 70's. I love jeans, but hate low waist and skinny styles. I love tee shirts but the quality of cotton has hit rock bottom. All my tee have holes after one wearing in the front. I could and have given mini lectures on the qualities of cotton, ha! Supima cotton is the best and is hard to find. Uniqlo has them cheap but they are so plain.

I ordered some sexy chemises from Cosabella that would have worked on my body when I was 19 but not now. So disappointing.

I found Silhouette patterns work very well for me. They are sized for the bust and are the best cut patterns out there. Now to sew up the stash of fabric I have.

Cabi home parties for clothes is what is available here. It is hit or miss color wise and most pants are cut too low but good quality.

Angie you are my role model for dressing and style! Thank you for this blog and forum.

Hello! I'm a long-time lurker who has benefited from YLF blog advice over the years. An unexpected situation gave me the opportunity to have some extended internet time, so I began to explore the Forum. I'm an over-50 working professional with a love of fashion. I hope to get acquainted with the people whose posts I've read over the years and learn even more from them in the Forum.

I changed my name to show my position here. I want to learn about fashion.

Cool idea fashiontern! You're wedding guest blues, right? Angie can teach you heaps about fashion.

Jenni NZ, yes, that's me That name got that point across, but doesn't need to define me forever. In a couple weeks I'll change my avatar, but not all at once or people won't know who I am.

If she's willing to teach, I'm listening! And to everyone else as well.

Hi, I'm Marta 24, a fashionista of some sort, college student and I also write for a fashion blog? http://newankarastyles.com

I love ripped jeans, off shoulder gowns(slightly short ones) and simple jewelleries on, if any.

I guess am the newest member on here, this place is old really and I really love what am seeing hoping to contribute too.

Hello all, I'm Liz. Just signed up. I'm 43 and lost a bit of weight recently, from a size 10 to a 4. Looking for inspiration to dress myself now that I'm looking smaller and getting older. I usually wear minimalist/causual/beach clothes and live a snowbird life so lots of summer clothes for me. But my favorite clothes are fall ones (even though I only get a month or two to wear them).
Looking forward to exploring around here!

Hi all, I'm Betty - a newbie here I've always liked changing up my style as regularly as possible so I'm here for fresh inspiration and advice. I am relatively short so trousers tend to be a hassle to buy, even though I prefer them (I'd say I'm a little bit of a tomboy, if that label still exists). I also tend to prefer Autumn / Winter because I love layering. Really excited about the kind of things this platform can help me out with.

Hey hey everyone

My name's Heather and I'm 31, a copywriter in Portland, OR, and have always loved feminine style with a little edge to it. I love putting outfits together for others and lending advice. Over the past year, I've really come into loving heels and pumps—the kind that can feel as good as they look. I recently started a fashion blog to help document the many styles that I and other women embrace—Tompriss.com

And like Betty above, I adore autumn. Jackets, scarves, layers, jeans, boots, it's heaven.

Hi everyone! I have discovered my love of fashion later in life...I am 60. I am challenged with refining my style combined with a change in my body as I age. I hope to gain tips and inspiration from this community.

Hello YLF members! I've read the blog for a long time and am learning to devote time to me as a busy mommy. I live in the Midwest and work as a RN Health Coach so my work days are filled with nursing scrubs. I don't have much of an opportunity to wear fashion-forward pieces outside of work and am lost on style as I have several limitations on what I can/cannot do.

I have two little boys, one that is soon to be 4 years and the other that is just shy of 16 months. I would love to be a stylish mother but have not found the right look for me.

I am a petite pear at 5' 2 5/8" and a weight of 110. I would love to wear the gamine styling of Audrey Tautou and especially Jean Seberg. I also adore Kate Lanphear although I could not manage the heels! I enjoy neutrals: black, gray, navy and steer clear of white with two little boys. I hope to learn more and appreciate any wisdom from the forum.

Hi All: I love this blog and just joined this forum.I'm 36 years old and I just love fashion and spend lots of time making polyvore sets, married, mom and love fashion, shopping and fashion talk. I've never posted a photo of myself,so...

Hi, I'm Sally and I am 50. Nice tomeet you all and I am curious about the things I can learn here. At the moment I have got two little animals, a kitten and a baby dog and they take all my time. I hope it is going to get better soon.

Hello I'm Jan, I'm in my mid-fifties and I work as a college counsellor. I like to dress nicely for work which makes me the odd one out at times as many colleagues dress in casual jeans & tees. I'm tall but I'm shaped like a cylinder lol! I've also had problems with arthritis and had to give up wearing heels for low wedges. I'm looking forward to learning from other here and enjoying like minded company.

I'm very new here (still reading all the intros). I'm 49, have been a laboratory professional until recently, and I'm just transitioning into a new career of undetermined category. I am currently working/training in alterations, but I'm dabbling in design, too, and even thinking about taking some real-life classes (I've taken most of the video ones available on Craftsy). My current obsession is restyling thrift store finds.
I moved to Canada from the US about 4 1/2 years ago, and though I am not fond of the long, cold winters, I love the people and the culture. I am working on a YouTube channel, hopefully starting in about a month, and may also sell some things on either eBay or Etsy.

Hello gals of fashion! My name is Violettt I have been in the art world and fashion world for a long time. I am 60 now, kids are grown, still married to same man for over 30 years and still in love with fashion and beauty vlogs. I especially like women of "a certain age" giving their idea of beauty and fashion. I love to cook, love to travel, grew up in Europe, adore history, and feel it's never too late to learn something new or change or be inspired. Never too late! Matter of fact if any of you are reading this now, I highly suggest on Netflix watching Lucy Worsley's great show on the Tsars of Russia. And of course, "The Crown" season 2 starting Dec. 8, and Victoria on Masterpiece which is divine. I feel there is a huge life out there, and to narrow it down on what's trending is narrowing yourself down to an ordinary life. Learn, learn and learn all you can folks. I have been a clothes horse my entire life, lol and still am, along with so many other interests. I also have 3 pets, which we adore, 2 cats and 1 dog. Oh and I am a cashmere and handbag nut! Just thought I'd throw that in for good measure****haven't even looked for the handbag topic yet!

Hello, all. I am a forty-mumble writer living in Seattle with my husband, 10 yr old daughter, and 2 cats. I sometimes feel a little sheepish bothering about my wardrobe considering that I work from home, live in a casual city, and don't have a terribly active social life, but it turns out I find it fun and interesting to think about clothes, combining colors & patterns, wardrobe building, etc., so, here I am. Look forward to learning from you all.

Hi Sarah~ I love Seattle and have many relatives who live there!

Hi Dayna~ have you seen the great show on Netflix called "The Collection"? It really gives a glimpse inside the world of fashion as far as the people who actually make the clothes~ A must see

Hi Jan62~

Hi Cheri~ Yes, I know what you mean about how our body changes! We must embrace it! Look at Helen Mirren!

Hello all! I'm an almost 40 year old in the DC area, and trying to up my fashion game both at work and at home. I tend to stick with a fairly limited color palette: black, white, grey, blue, plum, teal, and blush. My office tends toward business casual. A full on suit looks like I have an interview, so I have been searching for some interesting toppers to incorporate into my wardrobe that give me a bit more polish without overdressing. I'm not sure about how to figure out my body type and what styles of jackets would work best.

Hello!
My name is Zeynep. I'm from Turkey. I'm 30 years old. I'm a graduate student and teaching assistant. I'm married.
I love fashion. Especially cheap clothes I have a fashion blog in Turkish. I recommend cheap online stores on my blog.

Hi all! My name is Aurore, I'm from France, and I recently discovered the YouLookFab website. I found so many ideas and advice in there that I just HAD to come here on the forum.
Style-wise, I like classic cuts, structured lines and romantic details like lace or ruffles. At least, when I see them on others : I'm generally unsure on how to choose wardrobe items for myself and create outfits I feel well-styled in, so I'm looking forward to learning from this forum!

Hi I'm jazzy. I am from the USA. I live in Georgia. I am 24 years old. I love fashion. I am figuring out my style. I like girly , tomboy and sporty fashions. I hope to get great advice and tips and inspiration in this forum.

Hello, I'm Amy. I live in Orange County, but spend most of the time in Los Angeles. I would say about 75% of my time is spent in LA's fashion district. I love shopping and experimenting with outfits. Although I've loved fashion since I was 14, a lot of my personal style is a mixture of casual, sporty and relaxing wardrobe. I love helping others make outfits and love new & experimental looks that aren't as popular among fashion trends. I'm hopeful this forum will give me great advice and influence inspiration for new and unique outfits!

Hey, everyone! I'm virago, a 52-year-old writer and editor from New England who's received a lot of good tips as a lurker and is coming forth so (I hope) I can give advice as well as getting it. I have a buxom, short-waisted, long-legged figure; my style challenge is to find pieces that work in both business casual and weekend contexts. I do much research before pushing the button on any purchase, especially re: durability and sustainability. My weakness is for vintage clothing -- if I'm not careful, I can end up looking like I'm trying to do time travel, heh.

Hi! I just stumbled upon this site today and have been reading/lurking on it for the last 3 hours! Much helpful advice here (thanks!), and I want to see the WIW photos so thought I'd sign up. I'm 53 and work in an office setting. Business casual is the norm, but I like wearing suits--particularly since the office is always cold. I'm 5'8", pear-shaped with small bust, short waist and long legs. I have 4 children, including 3 daughters, between 16 and 23 who enjoy fashion and with whom I love to shop. Seeing what they are buying and wearing keeps me interested and in touch with the latest fashion trends. Like previous poster Virago, my daughters and I also have a weakness for vintage and enjoy thrifting and re-purposing old, unwanted clothing. I get a kick out of seeing them fall in love with a piece that could have come from my closet 10 or 20 years ago (especially when it actually comes from my closet, haha!) I would probably have a propensity for looking time-traveled myself, but they will usually tell me if an outfit doesn't work. I hope to use this forum to get multi-generation advice from others; women who haven't pigeon-holed me as "Mom".

Hi, I’m Kristen. I’m 34 and work in a formal legal environment. I’ve followed the blog in my rss reader for a long time, but thought I’d check out the forum.

I like classic, fitted garments that stand the test of time and make me feel both polished and pretty. I’m looking to up my style game by playing with color, footwear, and accessories while sticking with the business formal silhouettes my profession requires.

I tend to look younger than my age and would like to dress to project more authority without looking drab.

Hi everyone! I stumbled across this page when looking for my personal style, which is currently a bit lost and confused. I'm learning a lot already from the blog and your posts. I'm a web designer and project coordinator at a university, and love to look natural and comfortable, but also polished and professional.

I'm in my forties and over the past year have lost over 120 pounds. I've gone from dressing in whatever I could find that fit (I didn't make fashion a priority, sadly), to wanting to look as fantastic as I feel and not knowing exactly how to accomplish that.

I recently tried a "system" to try to identify my personal style, and it was not effective for me (so frustrating), so I'm stepping back and trying to get to know myself better without quite so much pressure to define my style perfectly right away. In the meantime, my priorities are not to look like a frumpy old lady, and not to look like I raided my daughter's closet. You wouldn't think that was such a fine line, but it feels that way sometimes!

Hi I’ve just joined everyone here. I know what you mean about being a bit lost, I was 13st 13lb and size 22; I am now 11st 11lb and size 18. I am also recently separated and trying to ‘find myself’. I am hoping I will also find the help I need here too. X

Hi there!
I am Amanda, but everyone calls me Dita.
I've always loved fashion and all its related topics, I guess every girl has an inner fashion princess attitude lol.
After years idealizing one day having my own swimwear brand, finally this year my dream is becoming true. I realized after doing a survey how much is important for me to listen to you girls, to know your wants and goals while wearing this piece many of us feel like a nightmare on that holiday to the beach or a day at the swimming pool with the children.
I hope to share with you how the development/ struggles of this fashion-business journey.

xoxo
Dita
