Hi all! I'm in my late thirties and live in NC. I have been trying to focus on me and have started with my hair and face. I am obsessed with makeup. Now on to the hard part, my clothes! I have PCOS and my former hourglass shape has morphed into an apple. I am looking forward to the tips and info you all share on here.

Hello Everyone, I am in my fifties and live in Vancouver, Canada. I have been reading Angie's blog for years, gleaning oodles of tips from every post. I look forward to sharing things here on the forum. I am short; short arms, short legs, LOL. But I wouldn't classify myself as petite. I have a sweet spot for shoes, and I love thrifting. Nice to meet you all!

Hello all! After lurking the forums/blog for a couple weeks I thought I'd sign up for an account. I'm a tiny tot undergrad from British Columbia, Canada and I find clothes and makeup a welcome relief from an endless stream of mathematical proofs

Hi everyone...I have been lurking for the past several weeks. I have seen so many wonderful outfits I had to sign up so I could comment. I am a 67 year old retired dairy farmer living in the Ozarks of Missouri (I'm a SoCal transplant). I don't get much chance to "dress up" but try to look my best when I do. I am 5' 7" and weigh 135 pounds with a pear shape. I try to keep in shape by walking 5 miles a day and working in the yard weather permitting. I love yard sales and thrift stores!

Hello, I am Niefern, 47 years old, married with 2 children. I discovered this site and forum 2 weeks ago and I am visiting it each day, I really love it. I had never been terribly interested in fashion or style until about a couple of years ago. I do not think I have a particular personal style, but I am trying to learn how to look better. This site is great!

I am 35 years old 5.3 and 112 l s. I have 2 boys 3 and 8 months so last 4 years went pregnant or nursing. I found this forum 3 months ago and need some advice on boots that I got so made up am account.
I have small hour glass body type /little rectangle. I am part time physician and just started to think about fashion. BORING was me so far but I guess turning 35 and stability in life provided me to expand my wings.
I think I have come long way in short time.
I will post pics soon @boots.

Hello, my first post new here to ylf. I'm jumping back on the fashion and style wagon after a hiatus after a hiatus called mommy hood. Now I'm back with a different body, different budget (goodbye nordstrom hello thrift/old navy clearance!) and determined to make it work. i gravitate towards classic stuff, love pencil skirts, cardigans and simple jewelry. hope to find my place around here!

Hello all ,
My name is sara and i am 27 years old .I am working on hairstyles fashion and beauty.I want to become professional designer .I am done a lot of hairstyles like medium length hairstyles and Hairstyles 2013 .

HI everyone. I am not really new but realized I never posted a who's who. Just didn't really think anyone would be interested, but if you are:

I am a 42 year old physician specializing in geriatrics and internal medicine, in a university town in southern Ontario, Canada. I have four kids, ages 11 , 9 , 7 and 5 (the girls are 11 and 5). I am married to another physician, and have been for 12 years.

My interest in fashion has been present since 7th grade, but has gone into overdrive since I stopped having kids (which was quite a habit for 6 or 7 years) and lost some weight. It is a constant struggle to stay within a range of weight that I can fit into most of the designer clothes I like, so that is very motivational.

Probably shop too much, but I hope this forum will help me to make intelligent choices when I do go overboard.

I am inspired by those who purge their closets and manage to stay within a classic capsule. Maybe someday...that will be me.

I really appreciate the supportive safe atmosphere of this forum, and find it endlessly entertaining and informative.

I also admire those who have a blog or website, that is a goal I would like to pursue in the future, maybe specifically pertaining to older women, since I meet so many elder fashionistas in my line of work.

Thanks for reading!

Hi all!

I recently found this blog and it is one of the few that has a proper forum. I love a good forum!

I am very interested in feeling good about the clothes you wear and bringing a bit happiness to life through style/fashion. I am a little concerned that my style is very dissimilar to those who post here but maybe I am being too hasty.

My style tends to be classic/romantic/retro/quirky. I have recently moved back to the US after living in the UK for a decade so I also tend to skew towards fitted, European cut clothing. I dislike anything BF fit or oversized! Most of my clothing tends to be for work or nights out with my casual clothes being more in jeans/shirt territory. I LOVE bright colors and feel depressed in loads of neutrals. I am not particularly interested in capsule wardrobes because they rely on tons of neutrals. My favorite type of outfit is probably a good fit and flare dress with bright tights and booties/high heeled oxfords.

I do need help with accessorising and mixing/matching clothes I already have. I also have never figured out how to wear a cardigan without looking silly.

I look forward to meeting you all.

Hi all! Brand new here. My friends and I chat on Facebook every morning about what we are wearing that day and one of them pointed me in this direction! So far I have found an overwhelming number of new ideas and I have just been reading threads at random!

I recently switched jobs and with that came a completely different dress code. I had really built up my fancy business wear (slacks, shirts, jackets, etc) and now I could wear jeans to work if I want so I am trying to creatively mix and match my business-y stuff with my weekend wear. Generally I PREFER the casual but it's been really fun try to emcompase all of it!

I like feminine styles with a bit of trend mixed in. I am plus sized, but actively working on changing that

I am really excited for what I am going to learn from everyone! I am so glad this site was pointed out to me!

Hi! I'm new here, but I've been lurking for ages. My name is Jessica, I'm in my mid-thirties, and I'm a classical musician from the midwest. I have always been pretty girly in my style choices - I prefer skirts and dresses to pants. I love bright, saturated jewel tones, as I think they work best with my red hair and super pale coloring.

I have a new job as a college professor, and I've found myself at a bit of a loss for how to dress. I look young, and I want to seem older than my students, but I also want to be myself. Since I'm in an artistic field, we don't have to be business-like or formal in how we dress.

I'm getting some great tips here - I've even been incorporating pants into my look more often! I'm also an avid seamstress, and I sew a lot of my own clothes (link to my blog is in my profile.) This is good, because I can get a nice fit, but also bad because sometimes I will sew something because it's fun rather than because it suits me. I'm looking forward to participating here!

I've been lurking for here for a while, but I'm finally posting in the forum because I'm facing a 3-way wardrobe dilemma:

While I'm at university (in the UK), I can stay true to my personal style (colourfully modest, by making full use of saturated brights & jewel tones- due to my high contrast light olive skin & black hair). I'm finding it hard to incorporate all that into a working wardrobe though.

This is made ten times more difficult by the fact that I want to travel the world through TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), meaning I have to minimise my closet until I can travel the world with it- not an easy task, for a hoarder like me!

On top of that, my wardrobe needs to be versatile enough to be suitable for different countries' customs & varying levels of professionalism (depending on where I go to teach) - the plan is either China or the Middle East for the moment, but who knows?

(PS- Also due to my affinity for colour, I like to fight against what I call 'Fashion's Black Plague' (an over-reliance on the colour black when pulling a look together). I hope you'll all join me on that crusade :D)

Wow -- I don't think I will ever get through all of the posts on this thread (fun-time reading!)
My name is Rhonda, I'm 37 years old. I have been married for the past 3.5 years, which is also how long I have been in law school. I live in Chicago, IL where I am finishing up my LL.M. in Taxation, basically I want to be a tax attorney when I grown up (which looks Jan of 2014 at this point). Currently I have an externship with an estate/tax planning law firm and I work for the federal courts part-time. Before going back to school I was a corporate recruiter for 10 years.

I am 5'5" tall and have an apple figure. I discovered this forum while running Google searches on how to dress an apple body type. I was confused for a long time and thought I was an inverted triangle until I realized the difference between my waist and hips was miniscule and that my shoulders weren't very broad. I have what my best friend refers to as a "food baby" -- a nice round tummy that has been round since birth. My challenges are balancing a large bust with a short torso, and finding XL petite sizes in shirts jackets and coats to complement my short arms and undefined waist. As a result I am a devotee of a cinched waist, but the cinching can't be too high!

I love classic lady-like silhouettes and details, but I also love clean simple lines so I also adore androgynous styles (I am just not able to pull them off -- androgynous bombshell anyone?). I also love funky artistic looks but there has to be some polish to them. Funky/artistic I am finding is the hardest element to work into my look because a little goes a long way and it's hard to know what component of my outfit would lend itself to that aesthetic without down-grading the look, looking sloppy, or like I got dressed in the dark. So usually I incorporate a little funk and a little art in my color choices (bright colors

Hi all! My name is Ida and I live way down south, in Louisiana.

I'd say I'm a recovvering clothesaholic! I have a closet full of over 100 sweaters, tons of skirts, jackets, nice slacks, belts, drawers full of jeans, etc. More than enough clothes to last the rest of my life! I still love to shop, and buy beautiful clothes, though. I'm reeeeally trying NOT to shop. Right now, my one luxury is thrifting, which around here just means shopping at Goodwill. Most of the time I come out emptyhanded, but when I find something beautiful, I feel so accomplished!

My style is a mostly classic, although I do enjoy trying to keep up with a trend here and there, usually just using what clothes I already have. Right now, I'm enjoying wearing some printed skinny jeans my daughter bought me for CHristmas!

I love youlookfab because of the way Angie usually systematically explains what makes certain outfits work. I have a pretty good eye for putting clothes together, but I usually can't exactly explain why they work.

Anyway, that's a minimal introduction for whoever's interested. I've been lurking around here for ages, only posting once or twice in a few years.

Hello I'm new. I just moved here from Polyvore as unfortunately their ask section is closing down. Hopefully this site will be more useful although I enjoyed making sets on polyvore.

Hello!

I'm new here! Been lurking a while and figured I'd finally start posting.
I'm currenty living in California, 28, engineer by day, computer geek by night!

I am a bit addicted to clothing! I spend many a weekend morning/afternoon window shopping on websites (mod cloth is probably my favorite to browse around). My style is probably a bit of a romantic bohemian. I love lace, I love crochet, I love ruffles. I also enjoy "pushing the envelope" when it comes to mixing up patterns and colors.

I'm here to hopefully learn a little bit about creating the right "shape" with my clothing choices. I think I'm pretty good at the colors and whatnot, but I just have no idea what styles look good on me! I get distracted by what the models look like in things, and I definitely know I do not have their body type!

Hi everyone!
My name is Abigail. I’m 19-year-old college student, and I live in Florida. I’ve been reading YouLookFab everyday for at least three years and made comments here and there, but this is my first time on the forum. I’m really excited to join the community! 

I’m still working on finding my style identity, so right now my outfits are a hudge-podge of classic, girly, edgy, retro, preppy, and earthy (Do any of those even go together?)

I’m also trying hard to build up my wardrobe basics, but I’m on a tight budget, so about three quarters of my wardrobe is thrifted and my current basics are not the greatest quality. But of course, it’s a good thing window shopping and Pinterest are free.

Anyway, I’m just really excited to finally join in on all the fun.

Hi, I've read YLF off and on and have enjoyed it immensely. Never having posted before, I hope I am in the right menu box. I am at one of those interesting pivot points in life where everything is changing while seeming the same. At 72, retired for 3 years, 5'3," newly lost 25 lb. so height weight are proportionate again, nice little town; same quite nice husband of 53 years, what's the problem you say?, retirement style is boring me to tears. I could easily live in jeans and sweatshirts and be dressed appropriately for 90% of life. For 26 years I taught special ed and enjoyed dressing for the demands of professional meetings and looking put together for my students. You look good, they feel good. I volunteer in my old school's reading program, am an active Master Gardener, and a member of a computer user group, plus church and family. I sew and mix art and sewing skills at many levels. Sewing has been an essential since high school to fit my short waist-ed rectangular upper body, what height I have is in my legs.My style has always leaned to trim, classic with shots of bright color in tops, long on separates, ability to move easily and accessories. I'm hoping to have all of your help in getting out of this rut.

Hi guys! I'm new....in fact I haven't even lurked yet! I saw YLF recommended on another board I belong to and decided that I desperately need your help! I'm in a weird place...30 years old, homeschooling mom to two six year olds and a 9 month old boy. My son has milk soy protein intolerance so my diet while breastfeeding has been very very limited. As a result I have lost my pregnancy weight and then some and am back to my wedding day weight. Unfortunately, a lot of my clothing is ill-fitting, worn out and cheap to begin with. I feel like I'd like to start dressing much better and I have no idea where to start or what to do. I'm on a very tight budget....but I love thrifting. I'm terrible at accessorizing and not great at visualizing either....and oh my word could I use some make up advice. Oh and also I desperately need a haircut and don't know what to get! I'm going to be a fashion sponge and soak up all the advice here! I sound like a hopeless case even to myself...

Hi, my name is Breonna, I am 32, have 5 kids and travel a lot! My hubby is an officer in the Air Force, so were constantly on the go! I'm studying ( non- traditionally) to be a paralegal. I have 2 yrs left on my degree program. I did the whole get married and have kids thing first. I wouldn't change anything though. I guess I'm an hourglass, although I always thought pear since my hips are so big! Idk. I posted an hour ago and those are the responses I got. I'm 5'1 kinda busty and petite. I would like to know more, so I can look my best. I'd like to know about face shape, body shape, skin tone.. ect... The body shape calculators I've tried have all said spoon or rectangle. My measurements are 35 shoulders, 34 bust, 27 waist and 36 hips. My hips are my biggest feature. I am very petite, but have long legs. Also, am Iong or short waisted? Pretty much any ifo and help I get would be appreciated. It'd be nice to know where I fit in for a change. I've heard over the recent yrs about body type and how it can affect your appearance, so I'd like to know if there's anything I need to improve, or have been doing wrong for my body type. Ty and nice to meet everyone. Thank you for allowing me to join. I'm so excited about this forum!!!

You can't really see my bust in the first image, so I thought I'd post a different pic as well

Hi! I'm Amy and I'm so excited to have found this forum! I'm a 32 year old homeschooling mom of two, and I've recently lost a lot of weight. While I'm in a much smaller size than before, I am a self-confessed fashion nightmare. I want to look better and frankly have no clue about what I'm doing. I'm hoping for lots of hand-holding! I really don't even know what my own fashion style is (or how to figure it out - see, really, a fashion nightmare).

Looking forward to revamping my closet!

Hello Ladies!
My name is Anna and I am from Ottawa, Canada. I have come across this blog about a week ago and had enjoyed and learned from it a lot and since the YLF community seems so nice I want to be part of it. In terms of background, I am a legal professional who had a year ago decided I need and want to work for myself so I started my own business. I LOVE my work. I also LOVE playing with clothes and makeup. In terms of style, I don't know that I have one. I am leaning toward classical yet whimsical clothes and love mixing severe looking items with flowy, softer silhouettes. I love soft clothes though. Comfort is paramount- I do not do high maintenance in anything. Even my nail polish has to be easy.
I am an hourglass leaning pear, and I am about 5'1.
I look forward to being part of YLF.

Hi all! I thought I'd introduce myself here while I'm at it. I'm Angie, age 34, from Utah. I'm a SAHM of four kids (3 boys, 1 girl--ages 7, 5, 2, & 6 mo). I have spent the majority of the last 7 years in maternity clothes, sweat pants, and my husband's clothes (gasp!), and going up and down in sizes. Now that our family is complete, I feel like it's finally time to put myself back together. lol I'm still trying to figure out what my style is. Being a SAHM I need to find something that fits my active, messy lifestyle, but that looks good and makes me feel put together and a lot less frumpy. I found this site googling, trying to figure out my body shape and how to best dress it. So far I am really enjoying reading the blog and forum posts and looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hello Everyone! My name is Mary and I live in Orlando, Florida. I am so excited to have found YLF! I am a 42 yo mother of two who works in the financial field. I am desperately trying to vamp up my casual/weekend style.
It seems that I'm comfortable in suits for work but then when I have to dress casually, I get lost along the way.

I have just begun to really figure out my style (I know, a bit late at 42) and realise that I have tons of clothes in my closet but have a difficult time putting outfits together. I love clothes, shoes, accessories and makeup...I am just hopeless at making what I already have work for me.
I am looking forward to finding some inspiration from the fabulous ladies here!

Hi all!

I'm Anna, and I live in a very sunny part of our world, where I can only dream of snuggly, warm winter coats, and waking up to snow outside my window!

Looking forward to joining the discussions, and being inspired to expand my wardrobe in a more streamlined, and smarter way!
