Hi everyone! My name's CJ and I'm from the UK - I stumbled across this website about a week ago and can't believe I haven't found it sooner. It is fabulous, really wanted to say a big thank you to Angie for taking the time out to put this all together and to all the ladies who make this such a supportive and fun place to discuss all things fashion!

I'm 32 and married with a lovely, energetic 2yr who keeps me on my toes. Back at work and just starting to review my closet again since I was pregnant. I love the trends but am slowly beginning to realise that love doesn't mean I can wear all of them. I'm an apple shape currently but will be an hourglass once I get my diet kickstarted.

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome to YLF Mrscooks! Pop right into a thread and start chatting...looking forward to getting to know you!

Hi, I'm Danyell. I came across this blog while surfing last night, and I completely love it. Not much to tell about me, other than I'm single and don't have any children -- but I love fashion, and travel.

I just signed up, so here's my intro. I go by "Nuranar" online and I'm in my late 20s. I've always loved pretty clothes and costumes, and I'm now an accomplished seamstress, particularly in historical and vintage styles. I'm a tall, small-waisted pear, and I've discovered that very late 1930s/early 1940s styles are about the most flattering clothes for me ever. As a result my personal fashion style is a definitely unique blend of that period's silhouette and influence with more modern pieces. I live in North Texas, and the extreme temperatures and weather here also heavily influence what I wear. I'm excited to find YLF and looking forward to getting involved in the forum!

Hi Nuranar, Nice to have you here. There is a lot of love here for vintage and the 30s/40s is was such a great time in fashion. Look forward to getting to know you and do hope you will post some of your outfits.

Thank you! I'm trying to get into the habit of taking outfit pictures.

Hello there! I have only just signed up after many weeks of browsing - love this place! I am a 30-something illustrator from the UK, hoping to become a little less shy and post more about myself soon!

Hi! My name is Melissa. I'm 31 years old and from Canada. I came across this site surfing the net as well. I am a single mom to a 7 month old little boy. After a rough year I'm looking to change my style.....ok find a style (lol) and learn a thing or two about fashion. I love this site so far. Its very comprehensive but put in a way that I can actually use it.

Hi Noella and Melissa - I'm pretty new at this myself but welcome to YLF.

Well I tried once to write in this thread and my internet connection boomed and I was lazy to rewirte it again, so just left it.

After days I am writing again.

Hie all YLF members and Angie and Greg, I am Shikha Gurung from Nepal, a small south asian Himalayan country with Mount Everest and Gautam Buddha's birth place. Do visit it, its really beautiful and clean. Let me also give you one reason for your visit. The people are really very very fashionable here in the cities.

I am a banker by profession and love fashion really very much. One day I intend to leave this banking field and fulfill my dreams in fashion field but fear the financial security that banking profession gives me so I am just dreaming of my dreams.

I really found this site by accident and now I am addicted to this. LOVE you all and keep posting.

Hi Shikha - love your introductory post. You have not only introduced yourself but also your beautiful country and it has reminded me that I have not yet introduced myself even though I have been posting comments and photos for the last month so here goes....

Hi YLFers my name is Kym. I live in Aotearoa - the land of the long white cloud - you will be more familiar with the name New Zealand. I work for an airline and am the mother of 3 children (19 girl, 16 boy, 13 boy) and the grandmother of 1. My husband and I live in Auckland. I work full-time for an Airline managing a large team of technical people. As I work in a back office area the dress code is pretty broad - so long as you're not wearing beach wear or PJs you can pretty much wear anything.

I'm a keen people watcher and love to see the way women represent themselves to the world through their clothing choices. I see how you dress as a partial outlet for your creativity and although I am not a particularly daring dresser I love getting dressed up - it's kind of like role playing. I'm also keen to define my personal style/signature but also want the freedom to dress in other ways as the mood takes me.
Arohanui (lots of love) YLFers.

Hi All! My online name is "Charlene" which is the name of one of my 2 Maine Coon cats. I had to put her to sleep last November (6 days after her 14th birthday) due to cancer. I still have my male, "Earl", who just turned 14 this month. He's just the most loving little thing! Enough about my kitties...

I was married to a wonderful man for 20 years but he died from leukemia 3 years ago. Since then I've been sorting out my life and trying to figure out who I am now. I never thought I'd be lucky enough to find that kind of love again but I have! Yay! I met him online and we are now living together. We are very happy. Time will tell if we get married.

I've been an RN for 23 years, mostly in Labor & Delivery. When I moved in with my BF it entailed 3 hours away to a new city and finding a job. It took me 6 months to find a job but I did and I am really enjoying it so far. I'm in Perioperative Services now. My co-workers are a great group of people.

I'm 5'6" and about 155 lbs (still trying to lose). Until last year I'd always been very large busted. I treated myself to a reduction and it's been the best thing I ever did for myself! Soooooo nice to be able to wear clothes I would never have considered before. I used to be an hourglass figure but since menopause I have gotten thicker in the middle. I'm not really sure of my shape right now but I'll read here and figure it out!

I have very little style since most of my adult life I've worn scrubs or nursing uniforms. My new job does not require a standard uniform or scrubs. We are supposed to wear "business casual with a white lab coat." This has proven very difficult for me! Most of my clothes are either too dressy (to wear with comfortable nursing shoes since I stand/walk for 10 hours daily) or way too casual (jeans). So far at work I've worn navy uniform/scrub pants and just added a nice coordinating top. I only work 3 days per week and I think I've changed up the shirts enough that nobody has commented. Maybe they're just too nice to do so. I've had extensive foot and ankle surgery and so absolutely must wear Dansko, Allegria, or sneakers for support. Even with jeans I typically wear Dansko, sneakers, or sandals.

In the hot and humid NC summer I mostly wear dresses or shorts. I am a homebody and have no need for an extensive wardrobe. I usually go through my closet yearly and purge items. Even though I have a lot of clothes I find myself wearing the same ones over and over. I think I tend to look frumpy and want to change that. Due to my own personal summer I don't care much for layering; I just get too hot. So I need help looking put together without multiple layers of clothing. I've enjoyed reading about the smart casual capsule but need to figure out how to apply that to myself.

I found this site by accident surfing the web and thank heavens for that! I've been lurking and reading for a few days and already am addicted. If I should ever win the lottery I will have a consultation with Angie! That would be a dream. In the meantime I will continue reading here and learning about style.

Hi Charlene welcome to YLF

Hi, everyone! This is my first YLF post. I heard about this site from my favorite online hangout, Baby Bargains. Thanks, GoldenPig & the rest! I've been married for 14 years (next week), have two wonderful daughters (turning 2 & 4 in June) & a thirteen year old dog.

I wasn't trendy or fashionable even when I was a teen. But now at almost 40, I'm wanting to learn how to best dress my post-babies body AND dress for success in a new professional career that I hope to be starting within the next year. I'm in a fairly rural area in the midwest, which makes that even more challenging. And I'll need to look like a million bucks on my current part-time secretary salary.

I'm 5'7" & 160 lbs with broad shoulders, a short torso, and long legs. I'd love to lose another 20 lbs, but my doctor does not consider me overweight at my current size. Unfortunately, although I now weigh less & wear a smaller size than before my first child was conceived, my tummy muscles are terrible and I'm still asked fairly frequently when I'm due (and the answer is that the baby is almost two years old.) Doctors have told me that nothing will help. I was called "gutter" for my "gut" even when I weighed 100 lbs pre-kids, but it's far worse now.

I don't know that I will ever look fab, but I know I can look far better than I do now, and I am committed to trying.

Jem you have come to the right place and I can guarantee that you will find inspiration from the members of this group that will definitely make you look fab. Welcome.

Hello All,

I am Ramya, Currently in India moving to Norway soon
I am a software Engineer by profession ....

A body type 8, with a little belly ....

Been a month since i joined this amazing site...
Just kept forgetting to update abt me

Hi Ramya, nice to meet you and hi to everyone else,

I'm Diane, and I only recently started to read fashion blogs and found myself gravitating to YLF, I think the advice and inspiration here is brilliant.
I live in the UK in Perton on the Staffordshire border with my husband and 8 year old son.
I have been sewing since I was little and I have made and altered clothes for clients for about 20 years.
When I have the time, I sew stuff for myself as well as buying from the high street. Shapewise I am 5'6 and quite slim with square shoulders and a flatish bottom and thickish waist. Stylewise I think that I sometimes dress a bit too formal and I really struggle with clothes combining and accessorising.
Having an 8 year old son at 48 means that I find myself mixing with some younger mums on the school run and whilst I do look after myself its a challenge to hit the happy medium of youthful but not desperate or frumpy!
I often doubt my clothing choices and hope that YLF will help me to gain much needed confidence.
Cheers!

Hi all!

I'm Klara, and I'm new to this fab site. I have an eclectic, inconsistent style. People barely recognise me from outfit to outfit.
My signature style is probably big 50's dresses, usually to my knees and high necked if possible, a cardigan and ballet flats.
My husband tells me I'm 'never knowingly underdressed'. I have a tendency to overdress for everything (I've worn fake fur shrugs to the job centre before). But I also like androgyny when it suits me, and can completely go the other way, nick my husbands clothes and look mannish and casual.
I'm an hourglass, so I'm limited with what styles I can pull off, but I believe I'm quite dangerous in a slinky 50's cut dress
I also have a ridiculously young face, and do try to dress mature to balance me out, but I have playful taste. I think the 50's style, vintage haircuts and red lipstick suit me, and make me look nearer my age.

I have a tumblr here to introduce some of my outfits-

Looking forward to chatting to you all x

Hi Ramya, Diana and Klara - welcome to YLF - hope you have fun in this forum.

Hi Fabbers!

I have been posting for a little while and braved my first W.I.W. this week.
Time to introduce myself: I live in Melbourne Australia with a gorgeous husband 2 teenaged girls, one dog and one cat.
I am a registered Nurse but at the moment am a happy S.A.H.M. Have recently cared for my dear Dad with terminal cancer and now keep a close eye over my Mum- my Best Friend after my D.H.
Love all things to do with fashion of course! I am 5'5'' and a slim Pear. I attended a Personal Stylist course last year with a view to a change in career but I am not sure I have the confidence to actually 'get out there' and have a go at it seriously.

Hello all!

I discovered this site a few weeks ago now and decided to finally sign up. I'm 28 (though I look younger), 5'2" and shaped somewhere between a pear and an hourglass. I recently finished my PhD, so I'm trying to lose some "dissertation weight" and I'm also in the process of moving from the eastern US to Calgary, Canada for the next few years.

I've always been interested in fashion, but lately my style has been changing from the loud and colorful things that I loved in my early twenties to more neutrals and a little more classic with an edge, especially as I'm trying to pay more attention to fit and quality. I'm trying to view this move as the ideal opportunity for a much-needed wardrobe purge. The area that I'm moving to also has a very long winter, so I may need to make some wardrobe adjustments in the coming months.

I'm looking forward to talking with you all and maybe getting some advice for my wardrobe overhaul.

Welcome Lyn & Dee & Lyn congrats on posting your first coupke of WIWs. Dee look forward to interacting with you in the forum.

Hi. I'm Jessica. I found this forum when I was searching for what to wear for a wedding that I am attending next month. I know next to nothing about fashion but I do love looking at the fashion magazines lol I just wish I had my own personal stylist to help me figure out what to wear.

I am a freelance meeting planner/SAHM of three children; ages 4 and under. I made a vow the other day to get out of my fashion "comfort zone" and out of my comfy yoga pants and jeans all the time. My oldest daughter is a budding fashionista and she's pretty good at it. She loves to come up with all these outfits to wear and I hate the thought of not being able to help her at all when it comes to stuff like beauty and fashion.

My size 2 body pre-babies is long gone and after my second child; I settled comfortable into a size 6 and embraced my new qualities. I am 5'3" and a size 8 right now. I am WAY out of my comfort zone but with some work I can get back there. However this last pregnancy has changed the make up of my body and I can tell I have more stomach fat than before under my belly button and I'm not sure that will ever go away no matter how much I exercise.

I will get a picture up here when I can. I think that will help with any questions I have etc.

Anyway, this forum has been such a big help already and I just love reading the posts and seeing all the fantastic outfits. My mind doesn't seem to work that way - I have a hard time ever seeing how "different" things can go together. It's almost like all I can piece together has to match perfectly to one another and that looks ridiculous.

I look forward to reading and learning and eventually looking as fantastic as others on this site.!

Hello all together, hello Angie and Greg,
my name is Gabi and I am from Germany.
I am 52 and married. I love fashion and I am 5.9 and a 12 -14 pear!
I found this blog accidental and I am delighted about the style!!
I can learn a lot of matching my clothes in "Angies way" and it looks much better.

Hello everyone,

I'm almost 35 and stumbled across this site recently, I am so glad! I have really enjoyed reading Angie's posts, and I have spent time lurking on the forum, and thought it was time I start contributing.

I am a Anthropology demonstrator/technician at a university, which means that at any one time I could be out in the field excavating one day, processing carcasses for an archaeozoologist, working in a lab, performing skeletal analysis, managing archaeological collections, or teaching an undergrad class!

For example, today I was outside running some flotation samples, which was really wet and dirty work, then I did some computer work on a database, and then in the afternoon I was meeting with a professor about her ideas for the class she will be teaching in the fall.

I have spent far too long phoning it in (jeans and t-shirts) and I am ready to adopt a new style. I am just back to work from my second maternity leave (my kids are 3 and 11 months), and frustrated at the new shape of my body, so I look forward to interacting with all of you!

Just now joined and enjoying the discussion. Nice platform to introduce yourself. I am a Yaldah Michael. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi everyone,
I've been reading the log and forum for about a month now and I thought I'd finally plunge in and start sharing.

I'm Marie-Claude, 46 on Tuesday and I now live in Seattle with my husband and two pre-teen sons after moving around a lot. I'm originally from Quebec City and Montreal. I've also lived in Brussels, Paris, Halifax, Vancouver B.C. and on Vancouver Island. My husband is from Stornoway in Scotland, so shout-out to anyone from any of those places!

All these moves and life changes means that my way of dressing keeps changing and it's driving me crazy. I decided to try to work on defining more of a signature style for myself now that I am starting a new career.

I love a lot of different styles and used to buy whatever I found really cool or pretty without much thought on wearing it (weird I know!) I'm starting to stick more to formulas that seems to work for me (love Angie's capsules concept).

Because of cost, I'm also now committed to buy mostly thrifted clothes except for super basics, like pants that fit me and good quality flat shoes (I have hip displasia which means that I had to give up all my heels and badly constructed shoes).   Anyway, my goal is not to follow trends but define a style that works and feels like me

Sorry my intro is long, I do like to write LOL
Cheers!

Hello Jessica, Gabi, Ceit, Yaldah & Marie-Claude. Welcome to the YLF Forum you will find sonething for everyone and it is just like having your own stylist. Enjoy!

Hi there!
I'm Elise, and am going to give it a try again at finding a new me, style wise. It has been a a confusing time of it. I was always a slender and young looking woman. I was fortunate that I never gave a thought to what to wear. I threw together a pretty good bohemian look with a bit of polish. Now, I'm 58 , and I feel for the first time since my forties I haven't one clue on how to dress myself ! I don't want to look to young and in that attempt, I look a trifle old. My body is an Apple (I think) with a shade of hour glass. How many times I've gone to my closet lately and try things on, and end up like a adolescent on my bed crying ...well, it's completely embarrassing to say. I don't even have a grove to get back to. Lol(not really laughing here). I'm so happy to finally find a forum to educate myself in body type etc. My aunt was a buyer for Bergdorf's . She and my mother were fashion do's,,,sadly, I didn't get their genetics. Double embarrassment ! So, here I go. Wish me luck !
Best,
Elise (trying to grow up at 58, pathetic) Help!

Hello everyone. I just joined the forum today. I am looking forward to learning a lot and getting some fashion advice. I am getting married in September and will be going to Cancun for the honeymoon. That's what helped me find your site and forum because I am trying to rework my wardrobe a bit and also find some nicer style clothes to take on my trip. I will be looking around in the forum for tips and advice. Hope to learn a lot from you all.
