Got back a few days ago to a Seattle heatwave - 30 degrees plus each day, and judging by what I see on my iPhone - there is no end in sight. VERY unusual for Seattle.

I believe that the weather was gorgeously warm the month we were away too. AND we had amazing weather in the Netherlands and England most of the time we were there. Only needed my trench coat for one day and two evenings.

Must say I welcome this type of hot weather. I feel comforted by it. I finally don't feel cheated of Summer weather. I have been wearing my dresses and cut-off denims with great enthusiasm this week. Will haul out some skirts next week.

It's been hot here, but not quite a heatwave, which in Colorado means temps in the 95°+ range (35+ in C°).

I hate it. I miss wearing layers and I always feel like a sweaty mess by the end of the day, as our house is only partially air-conditioned. We lived in Seattle for several years before the gray winters got to be too much for me, and I really miss the mild Northwest summers. Someday, maybe I'll get to realize my dream of splitting my time--winters in Denver and summers in Seattle.

I'll add that it isn't humid in Seattle, which prevents you from feeling hot and sticky.

Actually, here in the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania, we are having a Cool Wave, and that suits me just fine! It's been very rainy and misty, which makes the mountains look very atmospheric, like a Chinese painting. I love it. I know there's plenty of heat and humidity on the way, but every day without high temps makes me happy.

Angie - Denver has this amazing, crisp winter air with dry, fluffy snow--the famed "Colorado powder." The winter weather is variable, with lots of sunshine, so snow rarely sticks around for more than a few days at a time. It doesn't have time to get gray and dingy as the season wears on. Sunshine on fresh snow was the thing I missed most about Denver during our four years in Seattle. It only happened once or twice while I was out there and here, it's a regular occurrence. Mostly, though, the wet Seattle cold really got into my bones in a way the lower, but dryer, temperatures here don't. Thank goodness for a coffeehouse on every corner!

Oh that is unusual for Seattle!

I live in the Rocky Mountains around 7500 ft elevation. *Hi Jenn!!!*

We have had unusually cold, wet weather since March. However.... We had a brief heatwave two weeks ago. The sun shone and it hit mid 80s -- quite warm for us.

It was GLORIOUS! I wore a lot of dresses and denim cut-off jeans. I soaked in it, literally. I did wear a bit of sunscreen and stayed in the shade some. (It hits 110-120 degrees F in direct sun) But otherwise, I was a sun goddess.

And now we are resuming our monsoon weather of afternoon thunderstorms and rain. BOO.

Jenn and Keturah, that's news to me, and thanks for sharing. Sounds quite nice. I thought Denver was arctic like the East Coast for five months of the year. Snow everywhere, and despite the sunshine, temperatures are way below freezing. I LOVE the East Coast - and would love to live there - but the Winters scare me big time. The heat on the other hand - I handle quite well.

We're already at 99F (37C). It might go higher. At least it isn't muggy today, like the last few days. Seven of the last ten days have been 99F or higher. I'm not a fan of this weather at all.

ETA: I'm at 4500 feet.

Here in the great Canadian Prairie, we have had ongoing high temps (high 20's and up to 30C quite a few times) for the last 3 weeks now. And humid. Ugh. It's been a challenge I haven't really been prepared for work-wardrobe wise, so I'm wearing the same thing over and over again. And wearing workout shorts and tanks every other minute of the day. There are 118 forest fires burning in Saskatchewan (our neighbours to the west) which have blanketed both provinces with hazy smoke. At times you can even smell it here. It's made summer weather very odd indeed thus far. Today I am wearing white jeans and a print handkerchief hem tunic - cool and comfortable enough though sort of maternity looking I fear I've stopped wearing a face full of makeup in this heat - it just doesn't feel right .

San Francisco had a bit of a heat wave too, but the fog is back today. My parents are visiting from the East Coast and I warned them to bring a jacket, but for the first few days, they had no idea what I meant. Today our central heat came on again and they're getting an accurate picture of San Francisco summer.

Your heat wave is our cool wave! Is that a phrase...cool wave? Anyway, just about the same temps here, which feels blessedly cool after a month in the high 90s and a few times hitting 100 (38). I'll take it.

Totally love our PNW weather this year It helps if you've got an "escape from the heat" plan, which I always try to have in mind as I overheat reeeeally easily. I'm very grateful that my work does NOT have AC so I can enjoy wearing my summer clothes! I have been getting a lot of weird looks for continuing to drink loads of hot tea though, heh. Only problem is that with the lower-than-usual humidity, my hands have been drying and cracking a bit. Trying to keep them loaded up with Nivea!

(I posted a big batch of hot weather casual outfits at Lisa's request last week. Noticed I wasn't wearing my skirts/dresses as much, so am doing so this week. It's been interesting though -- my volume of "hot weather" clothing is on the smaller end since we don't usually get this warm, so I'm having to repeat elements a lot more than I normally would... and I'm not really minding! A pleasant surprise. My "active casual" capsule is getting a workout, for sure. And I am wearing sandals more than normal, which feels a bit weird.)

Arround 30 here this week, which I still enjoy, but it looks like it will be 37 next week and that is too much. And I have to think of two outfits every day, I work in the arctic business casual office in the morning and taking afternoons off to go sightseeing with family that is visiting.

I'm in the Eastern part of WA and we have been having exceptionally hot days; up to 106! I personally love the heat as long as I have a cool place to sleep. My biggest complaint in summer is the frigid a/c. I work in an office with mostly men so you can imagine how freezing they prefer the office. I am in a constant flux of putting on and removing layers and have actually been known to have my heater on under my desk while it's 100 degrees outside!!

It's oddly cool out East this week - was in NYC on Tuesday and back to the DC area. Very strange summer - lots of rain, cooler temps. Ok by me. I actually am wearing my skirted leggings this evening!

Laurie and others, I saw the cooler temps on the East Coast. Your heat came to us. Wooohoooo.

Right here in the middle of this Seattle heat wave and not liking it much at all. Or rather, I like the heat, but don't like that it refuses to let up - even 5-10 degrees cooler would be lovely. I have lots of summer tops, but almost nothing in the way of summer bottoms. Brilliant me decided to get rid of most of my shorts before moving here, thinking I'd only need a pair or two.

I do have a casual cotton circle skirt that I love. Just need to keep it laundered so I can wear it when I can't - or don't want to - get away with cotton lounge wear.

Have I mentioned here that my wardrobe needs serious help? (Only every time I've posted.)
And yes, June was gorgeously, perfectly warm - not searingly hot. Your reply

Another Seattlelite here. i'm living in sleeveless dresses and my newish cutoffs. (I'd saved them in the Finds, and when YLF notified me they'd gone on sale I pounced. Thank you!)

We love avocados at Chez Classically Casual. As our weather seems to be changing for the warmer, I've been researching avocado trees, and have found a variety that may work. Lemons into lemonade, or avocados into guacamole...:)

Coool in the upper midwest...Would you believe I got up at 5 and turned on the furnace?...The house was damp and cold...Tonight it is going down to 50...I am so ready for summer like some of the YLFabers talk about hot and humid and wearing cotton and eating watermelon and going to the pool to cool down...
I know it will come but it has been awfully slow this year...

I was just outside and heard a big boom - thunder. It's dropped about 10 degrees and is really windy. My dogs came running. They don't like thunder. One of them really suffers in the heat. Here he is just now, resting on the air conditioning vent.

A heatwave in Seattle? The weather is all mixed up this year. Here in Michigan, we've had beautiful temps ranging from 70°F to 80°F and an abundance of rain. It's fab weather for gardening and for sleeping. If it stayed like this all summer, I'd be thrilled. Normally, temps are 10° higher with very high humidity.

Here in India, temperatures go above 40C very easily. I don't really mind the dry heat all that much, but July-August is the monsoon season so it's HOT & HUMID, which I completely hate. If it rains often, the weather gets better, but it hasn't been raining this week. Gosh, I hate it. You can have a shower 10 times a day but you'll still never feel fresh - and will be covered in sweat before you've had a chance to put on your clothes.

My mom lived within commuting distance but inland from me so an entirely different climate. She died two weeks ago, so we've been going out to her place to clean up. It has effectively been a super heatwave, esp. since her a/c is not too effective so we are doing well if it gets down anywhere below 85 degrees inside and/or it is cooler than the outside. I decided I won't go there when it is three digits outside like it was yesterday.

Some part of me must have known she was about to pass away as I bought three tank tops last month and my fourth pair of sandals this year -- and I run cold. I am more set than usual for hot weather but still anticipate being miserable for months as that house is like an oven with no cross breeze and we don't open it up for the cooler night air because we leave to go home.
