I decided to take this afternoon for myself and head to Polo Park, Winnipeg's largest shopping mall. I went specifically to check out The Bay there as it has the best petite section, and to also check out Banana Republic, Laura Petites and Cleo Petites. My goals were to check out white straight leg jeans and trench coats.

For your info, I did try on the orange BR trench in Angie's store in petite but the fit was entirely wrong. Waist was at least two inches below my natural waist which made the buttons look off and although it fit in the shoulders, it was much too tight across the bust. Onward.

Well I must have tried out 20+ different styles and colours of trench coats...short, long, black, pink, yellow, double breasted, single breasted, zipper, tied, buttons...you name it. I took my time. I was definitely following the principle of PPP. And you know what? It felt GOOD. I tried on several trenches and spring jackets that pre YLF would have been good enough and I never would have been completely satisfied with them. Not this time. I also decided this time I wanted quality.

So for your viewing pleasure please find the London Fog, navy, single button up with removable hood, spring jacket. It is not a true trench I suppose, but I love this jacket. I truly do not think the photos do it justice. I messed with the exposure a bit to try and show you the details but it didn't photograph very well. The quality of this jacket is amazing - you can feel it in the substantial fabric and see it in the details. Even the buttons are a gorgeous gold with a tiger's eye centre. I like the deep pockets and the fact that it has a removable hood. It is water repellant and is also machine washable which is a huge plus. The one tiny issue is the shoulders are about 1/2 inch too wide but that can be easily fixed by either putting in a very small shoulder pad or having Wonder Woman put in a small tuck. Plus both shoulders have what I call "shoulder boobies" from the hanger. The shoulders do look fine when I have a blazer on underneath the jacket as it fills it out in that spot and this is important since I do wear a blazer a few times per week. Darn my narrow, sloping shoulders!

The white jeans are Jessica Simpson semi skinnies, which in my size, fit more like a straight leg. These are the same size as my grey Jessica Simpson skinnies. I have about 4 inches of fabric tucked under the legs since they need shortening but wanted to show them to you. They are not the cadillac of white jeans but I decided not to spend big bucks on this item since I'm hoping they're too big in 2-3 months! I have to give a shout out to Jessica Simpson - her jeans fit me great and don't bag out at all in the butt throughout the day. I'm also liking quite a few of her spring tees and tops.

Since we all decided we were going to be sure everyone understood what our posts were asking when introducing newly purchased items, this is not a K/R post. I am honestly in love with both these items. If, however, you see something glaringly wrong with either and you want to save me from embarrassment, then by all means, please point it out.
