A million thanks to all of you for making me feel less frumpy. Simple outfits and sensible shoes have been making me feel less than stellar. It seems a fine line between casual and frumpy. Thanks for embracing the gas station pants too. I was so hoping this looked current because I love them as a jean alternative. They are slouchy and comfy and have a great relaxed, tomboy vibe. I will be wearing them a lot this summer.
@sarah: I’m glad I’m not alone. I have to say that your RR stripe chinos are exactly how I want to look in chinos--hip and fun. I’m loving the break from jeans and those chinos are so comfy. I just couldn’t tell if it looked current on me (part of it is my age and negative associations I have with chinos in general.) I agree with the wider belt too--I hardly have any that fit around that part of my abdomen. I spied an orange one at Gap that I am planning on ordering. I wish Gap listed the width but it looks wider than my yellow one.) Will try the pants with one more roll
@Rose and Joan, Shannon, Ingunn, hedgiehog, Jenava, Thistle, Alicat, annaj, Joy, Makrame, : Thank you!
@Peri: Thank you. Your question really resonated with me. I loved reading the responses. I’m glad that you posted it!
@Jules and Firecracker: Thank you for pointing out the subtle on trend elements. I really hadn’t thought about them like that. I half tuck without thinking these days and Firecracker, you are absolutely right about the footwear. I only wear my running shoes to run--Lol!
@Suz: Yes! You understand about casual dressing. I think it’s so hard to feel stylish when the outfits are so stylish and somewhat repetitive. Thanks for them mesh sweater love. I ended up getting this one before the Gap one came. Of course, with me and white, I will be keeping both. Not sure how long they will last before the next major spill/stain.
@pil: Thank you! I agree about the footwear. It was a soccer weekend--uneven grass/dirt fields so the Cons were the best option. I figure I will never look any worse than this--any other shoe can only look better.
@Sveta: Thank you. I’m sure I could if I tried
@Mia: Thank you. I know, I saw Dickies somewhere recently too. I think they are kind of hip in the skater community.
@Angie: Thank you! I’m so relieved. I’m glad you like the longer hair. I haven’t had it this length for awhile but am enjoying it. My hairdresser says the medium length shag is kind of in right now--certainly easy to style.
@Shevia: Thank you! I think you are right about the chinos but I really wanted some non-jean pant options. I will keep these full length but change out the footwear to make them look more hip and less Chevron!
@AJ: LOL! I know. In the picture it looks almost scandalous but it didn’t look that way IRL. DD’s would have given me major grief if they thought it was see through--well, at least I hope so. I will wear this with a cami from now on though, just to be safe! Thanks!
