Where and Who takes your outfit photos?

Rae's industrial background and Angie's Fab on the go pics started me thinking about where, how and who else is involved in taking our W.I.W. photos.
I have a resident photo bomber (my dog) and my younger D.D assisting with mine.
If I take my own it is in my bedroom W.I.W. (Walk-in-Wardrobe)
If my helper is available it is usually in our family room/kitchen area that gets most of the sunlight.
I would love to have the tripod set-up that some of you ladies have.

I use a tripod and take them on my deck. I change the angle depending on the light. I almost always use a fill flash.

Thanks Anna, I think the tripod set-up might be the key for getting more outfit photos taken. Many days I just don't get around to snapping my outfit- no helper- and the mirror pics are not great.

I use a cardboard box on its side, and my iPhone stuck in a cut-off paper Tim Horton's coffee cup on top!

I take my photos right when I get into work in the morning.

I use to take mine in the office/junk room of my apartment, but now my BF takes them in the living room/hallway.

I use the self timer on my camera, no tripod. I've figured out a pretty good method by now. I put it on a flat surface (currently my dining table) around waist height and pose maybe 8 ft away. Too much closer and you get distortion from the low camera angle, but put the camera too high and you tend to lose the feet.

I use the triple shot timer on my camera. Better chance of getting a good one if there's three at once!

Occasionally I still do mirror shots if I'm in a big rush.

I set my camera on its end on a stack of coasters on the breakfast bar between kitchen and living area, and use the self-timer. The Bachelorette Pad is verra verra small indeed so it works just fine.

For ages I used my iphone on a tripod that DH made me and used the Gorillacam app which has a self timer. Now I am using a camera on a tripod. I was taking pics at the entrance between my kitchen/meals area, which I really liked and now I am trying to take them in a spot I have set up especially in my spare bedroom. I felt I had mastered the angles, etc in the kitchen but am struggling to get things right in the spare room. The idea was that if I have spot set up and ready to go, it shouldn't be too much hassle to grab 5 mins in the morning for an outfit shot. My DH is awesome because he is quite artistic (he is a muso) and strongly encourages artistic pursuits for both me and Master 10, so he helped me choose and buy a good DSLR camera and for my birthday bought me two studio lights to help me with my indoor photography Early days I would ask DH and sometimes DS to take photos but I prefer to just do it myself:)

I don't bother with the tripod any more as I've found a roll of paper towels on end works just as well. 10 second delay gives me time to move from the kitchen table to my spot next to the picture window. My dogs are the only others (well, except for you all) who know I take these pictures of myself - and I doubt they are telling any time soon:)

Mine are selfies in the bathroom mirror, and they are quite grainy and blurry. The light is either on the other side of the house or INTENSE right there. I should try the timer feature, but I like to see myself in the mirror to avert any dumb looking poses. I finally learned how to crop my pictures after almost two years on YLF. I'm a slow adopter I think!

I have a tripod set up in our attic/workout/guest/storage room.

I posted my first set of photos today that my hubby took outside by our cottage. He was laughing the whole time thinking this was a fun but silly exercise.

For my first 1.5 years here, my daughter or my husband took the pictures. Finally, I got a smartphone and a tripod. The smartphone lets me take dressing room pics in mirrors. And the tripod lets me take better and more frequent pictures at home. I set it up with the camera on it and snap them quickly with the self time function. I can move it to different parts of the house if I want to, but typically I take them in our bedroom where I have figured out the angle and we tend to get at least some afternoon light.

I've learned faster since getting the tripod. I don't always show the WIWs but I have them to look at myself. Very instructive.

#1 son is the picture taker, and uses my IPod. Usually pics are after work. He's almost 6ft 5in, and I like the angle. DH has done a few, as has #2 son.

There are 2 spots in the house, upstairs foyer, and downstairs in the living room (near a big window) as I quest for the best light in the winter time. (It gets dark here around 5 o'clock in the winter.) I've moved out of doors now that we are getting some nice weather, and the quality of the colours and resolution seems much better, but I get squinty face if I look into the light.

I take mine myself in the kid's bathroom closet mirror. I know it's not the best quality or lighting (the overhead light casts lots of shadows), but it's quick and I don't have time to be fiddling around with tripods and timers when I'm rushing off to work in the morning. Also, I can tell what the pic is going to look like and see if I need to stand up straighter and suck in my gut.

I take just one pic with a digital camera in front of a full length mirror in our bedroom. I'm only 3-4 feet away from the mirror and learned that vertical shots distorted me unflatteringly, so I shoot horizontal and crop later.

Grey days it is too gloomy. Sunny afternoons/evenings it is too bright!

I have SO much to learn from the pros here! I did buy some sort of gorilla tripod and forgot about it until just now. Must go search and find!

Wow.....this was interesting reading I have not yet taken or posted any photo's and I can see there will be a lot of trial and error and setting up of the equipment. Coasters, hand towels and coffee cups sound like my style of photography

I just got my dad to bring my camera back from home, and I have his old tripod and I could set it up - but I'm kinda lazy :p

I generally take selfies in my full length bedroom mirror. Truth be told, I am still a little shy about the whole WIW documenting thing with my family although they have all caught me in the act of photographing myself. The only problem with my current method it that I take the pics in the morning before I leave and the current winter morning light is not ideal for photos and also, you always get to see bits of my messy bedroom before I have had time to tidy it.

I take my pics with my iPhone and use the mirror in the hallway to take pics of myself. I take at least 10 photos. I then choose the ones I like and edit the photos on my iPhone - either using an app to edit or the actual edit options on the iPhone.
I have a tripod and a great dSLR for photos but the truth is that I don't have it set up properly and I'm usually too rushed to stop and take a photos with all of that equipment. The iPhone is my best bet right now.

I use the timer of my DSLR and a tripod. The background is my closed wardrobe, it's white and doesn't distract from the outfit. It's very easy to get usable pics that way.

This is where being the mother of four has advantages... My youngest is 13 so all are capable. My husband helps when he is around and I even broght my 10 year old neice into the mix. Whoever is available when I am ready to take them...
