If you have to stop at the specialty bakery 8:30 in the morning to get a $3 Brownie- the fact that you're still in your PJ's becomes a mute point- don't you think???

We had to drive my husband to work this morning- the only thing that I do outside the house in my PJ's (because we just can't get up and ready in time to get him to work), but on the way home we noticed our new favorite bakery was open and we had to stop. DS was actually concerned that we were all in our jammies still, but I told him that people buying brownies at that time of the morning get a pass LOL

I don't ever get in the car for ANYTHING in my pj's.... heaven forbid the car break down or I get in an accident. I don't necessarily get dressed for the day, but I put on my running pants, bra, and hoodie to take the kids to school.
I have a friend who took her husband to the airport in her pj's and locked the keys in the car at the curb! She had to stand there waiting for AAA. Nope.... I don't go further than my back porch in my pj's.

I don't know..8:30am doesn't sound very early. Most people have been at work for a while by then. Couldn't you pull on some sweats or jeans?

Well my 'PJ's' are actually sweats and a hoodie. We walked into the bakery, and there were ladies ordering cakes that were dressed similarly.
Angie- I hope you don't think I'm serious. I just think it's funny. It's one of those 'Life Happens' moments that I thought might be appreciated here. Making a stop dressed like that was not in the plans, but if I am tempted to go into a bakery at 8:30 am then it is a sign that I am already having one of those days, if you know what I mean.

Khris, a woman in our town puts her garbage out early on trash day in a see-through gown with a thin lacy robe. She's the talk of the neighborhood and the men make a point of being around to see the sight that morning each week. I'm afraid I had this vision of you dressed in a similar manner. Sweats don't sound so bad under the circumstances.

Ehh...shtuff happens. (I guess I'm not the one to talk after my get up this weekend). At least your PJ's could be mistaken for the kind of stuff some people wear every day - mine are most definitely PJ's.

I think what concerns me about people walking into food joints in their PJs or gym clothes (VERY common here, especially near the University) is not the "clothes" themselves, but imagining the head flakes, drool, sweat, and smellies getting within breathing distance of my food.
I'm sure you were clean, but nine times out of ten the people I see come into our fave bakery around NOON dressed liek that are not. And it just wigs me out.

PS: And yes, sweats are different than powerpuff girl print pajama pants, and an old running t-shirt.

I had an Auntie that instilled in me long ago that if you wear it to bed, it's should not worn outside the house, so I'm also of the mind that I would pull on a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, flats and hoodie from my closet - the kiddos OTOH can definitely stay in PJs.

I do, however, understand THOSE mornings. . .had one myself today. . .took my 6yo to school looking less than stellar (me), but it was either him or me, and he wins! I did get to go back home and complete my dressing for the day though before making it to work 15 minutes late.

I wouldn't let how I was dressed stop me from doing something spur of the moment (esp. anything to do with chocolate!). You go, Khris! Although I am happy to hear you were wearing sweats and not a flannel nightgown or somethiing

I hardly ever put yesterday's jeans away before bed, so when I have to walk the dog first thing in the morning, I usually just put them on. Actually faster than going to the sweatpants/PJ drawer. It might look less lazy once on the sidewalk I'm walking the dog, but it's really (doubly) not.

eh eh CS... maybe because I'm from a different culture, I coulnd't leave the house in PJ, my mom even refuses to go put the garbage outside with her hair undone!

If I was ever going to leave the house in jammies...and mine are sweats/lounge wear too...I might throw a fabulous jacket/coat/trench over...just to be safe:)

I would give this minor infraction a pass:)...we are talking brownies here after all

I don't even eat breakfast at home in my pajamas - I shower/get ready before coming downstairs, so I can't imagine doing this.

BUT......you always look so impeccable otherwise, I think you're allowed a slip-up here and there.

Hmmm. I don't ever leave the house with my jammies on, but maybe that's because I grew up in the country miles from anywhere, and you had to be ready to go when you left, because there was no coming back home until the day was over!

No way...Murphy's Law would dictate that the first time I tried something like that I'd have car trouble! I've never been beyond my back door in PJs.

Besides, I nearly always have a pair of jeans and some driving mocs nearby and it's just as easy to skin into those:)

I can't bear to leave my house without, at the bare minimum, a shower and actual clothes (no pj's, no lounge clothes), and always always always a bra and undies! Unless I'm going to the emergency room or for surgery, I just don't feel right.

But still...brownies! I just baked some two days ago and I can't say I don't support your decision.

Good stuff, Maya. I grew up on nutella - it's my "peanut butter and jelly". Our home is never without it. I'm big into nutella crepes too.

I can't recall ever having left the house in my pj's either - the kids yes, but not me - I've always slipped on jeans and a t at the least...

I felt like a slob last Sunday morning when I was still wearing most of the clothes from Saturday night (no chiffon tunic, but a hoodie instead) when I was dropped off to collect my car because I'd slept in the clothes LOL

My host mom in France made us galettes with Nutella at least once a week for breakfast with a big bowl of tea. Yum.

I've never been a fan of PB&J. I am sure I'm secretly Euro. Waiting for my parents to confess they faked my birth certificate.

Angie, I had the best Nutella crepe awhile back that had sliced strawberries and bananans, topped with whipped cream and raspberry sauce. YUMMY!

So I'm sitting here enjoying a bowl of oatmeal with fresh blueberries and sipping some tea, and then I stumble on all this talk of nutella.
Suddenly this breakfast just isn't doing it for me and Khris' brownie-driven impulses seem not only excusable, but down-right logical!
Nutella = some of the greatest stuff on earth! Though I've never said no to PB&J and am not about to start.
