Sorry to be a forum hog today. I can't believe I'm posting twice. Anyway, I am having the hardest time with denim jackets. This is one I've had for awhile (Talbot's petite). I like that it fits in the shoulders which is really a problem with denim jackets and me. But I think it looks awful when I try to style it.

What's wrong? The fit of the jacket? Its length? The way I've styled it? In 1/2 I know that it may be a problem that it hits right at my belt. But I don't think it's that much better in 3.

Is it 3/4 or half sleeve? I feel like the cuffs/sleeves are big....

Will be watching this thread. I wore my denim jacket yesterday after not wearing it for a year or more. I have the same problem (me thinks.) I love the way you styled it in 2. I think the low contrast belt and the sleeker bottom looks awesome. I wear mine like you do in 4--I think it looks good that way too.

Oh, gosh, Angie, I don't know what I'm smoking. I look at these and just see blah, blah, blah. Maybe it's the whole denim jacket on rectangular thing that doesn't work all that well for me. Hmmm...

These actually look like they are styled great and I find them very attractive on you. But I can relate to your feeling as I've been having a hard time with denim jackets too. I just can't get past the denim on denim thing for myself, and I rarely find myself wearing pants other than jeans. But it's not just that - for some reason it makes me feel bulkier/boxier than my other jackets. And mine are pretty fitted denim. I think if I could get myself to wear dresses/skirts I'd wear the denim jackets more. And I have no less than 3 of them. It may just be my own weird body image thing.

Yes I have to admit, I don't love denim on denim and that was what struck me about these outfits. I prefer a denim jacket over softer fabric, maybe something more feminine. So #2 is my favourite (less denim showing because of the boots) and for #3, I think this would look great with a skinny pant and flats or wedges. Actually I quite like #2 so I think it's the combo of similar wash denim on denim, casual straight leg jeans and sneakers (even though they are fab sneakers!) that I don't like. I say this not to be critical (Angie has spoken after all!) but perhaps to help pinpoint what YOU don't like about it.

I like denim on denim and I love these! I especially like #2---I think because of the tall boots and because I love the way you've popped the collar.....These all look effortlessly stylish!

I think the jacket fit is quite good, too, and should be very useful and fun. Why don't you play with how you roll or turn back the sleeves at different places on the arm, different scrunches, depending on your tops? Sometimes that way I find a bit different look here or there with the proportions of an outfit that just strikes me better .

Sarah, I think I get what you are feeling. I've been feeling something similar about my denim jackets lately. Maybe I'm just not in love with them for the time being, period! It does have to do with the overall rectangular thing, though. I find I feel better in them with dresses/ skirts, and like them best of all when the skirt has a bit of a flare to it. Weird. Well, truth be told, what that means is that I haven't been wearing them all winter.

As a matter of fact, I think you look great here, especially in #2, where you get a column of colour going and that fab belt to punch it all up. Denim blue suits you beautifully.

Also...cough. Posting twice does NOT make you a hog. We miss you! Post away!

I like denim on denim, and I don't like denim. I think the jacket looks spot on in #1. I find it a *boyish* jacket and that outfit is tomboy. You look great in the other pics too, but I do find the jacket to be boy over what is otherwise girl. If that makes any sense. Maybe that is the source of the discordance for you.

I loved both 1 & 2! it was 3 when you tried to create length that I didn't feel for. THe belt gives an interest point and defines your waist. I feel you lose that in 3

these are really great casual outfits and I can't see anything wrong with the jacket (though I'm not an expert!)

I too think these all look great, and concur on the consensus around #2!

When I look at the three photos, I see subtle differences in how the collar is arranged and the sleeves are scrunched. To me, these little details make a big difference in how I feel about how I look. I know Angie loves the popped collar, but do you? Do you like the sleeve scrunched or carefully rolled or pushed up and flared out?

The jacket--and you in the jacket--are great! Maybe a little tweaking of the details might make you love it as much as we all do?

I like the fit on you and think you should keep trying this jacket with other things until you find a combo that you feel good in. I don't like the denim-on-denim. At least with denims so similarly colored.

I would love to see it with different bottoms too. Maybe just seeing it with a different colored pant or a skirt could change your opinion?
