What's happening to me?

I've always had some random style leanings but recently I feel like I'm turning into a rich little old lady on a cruise! I'm being pulled by these bright graphic prints in upscale tacky-tasteful brands like Alberto Makali and Cavalli (see exhibits below). It's like Mrs. Howell does Chicos!

How would you describe these looks - are they hideous? - and what in the name of UWP is going on? And how can I reconcile this with ME?

I understand that I just had surgery and will not be doing anything drastic - although I did see and order the shorts in pic 4 pre-surgery!

It's summer, when orchids bloom in the dark forests of UWP's, and across their pants

yeah, I think it's seasonal and an animal instinct desire to match our environment which is all about pollination right now.

Half kidding here. I've seen and wanted similarly printed pants on other people, but I know they're not for me.

Nope, was off all drugs after two days - can't stand them! I wish that was the explanation.

I like the first pair of pants for you. Plus I think it's totally fine to cheat on your style persona.

I'd wear the pants:-) I don't know about the kaftan thingy...feels a bit "Maude" to me.

I love the first two pairs of pants! I think printed pants with a subtle solid top are very in right now.

I think crazypants in cool prints combined with dark or jewel tones still play to your style quite well. I love those prints (love the BR shorts buy they probably would not love me back).

The prints and colors are beautiful. I agree with Rabbit. It's probably a reaction to the season and change in light...a craving for beauty and color or maybe a need to get out and enjoy growing things in nature. Maybe it is time to plan a trip to a cabin or camping trip. ( or plant a pot of flowering annuals)

The title sounded like teen angst. Whew! Your suggested style persona is just a suggestion; you can wear whatever you want. BTW, do you have a Chico's in Anchorage?

Agree with those that chalk it up to the season (spring/summer). This is what I got on Friday...not sure where the inspo came from. Flowers and birds? Zara

I like the dark trousers. Would work with a white T and a black leather moto, etc.

I won't even look at these because they are WAY out of my zone - but when I read your opening line and the part about the cruise, that sent my mind over to Eurotrash looks and the first image that comes to mind is of Roberto Cavalli riding his Segway. Google it. It will transform your life.

I also bet it's seasonal. Part of it is it can be hard to find certain types of clothing such as UWP that is warm weather appropriate. I always end up going more boho in the summer than I do any other time.

The important question is, do you have the tops to pair them with?

Haven't you often enjoyed an alternate style side that is drawn to more color and pattern? Maybe the combination of summer, brighter light, and being ready to feel better and be more active means you also want a break for a bit from dark or edgy clothing. No reason not to wear what you'd enjoy!

Omg, Lisa. You blinded me! Lolol. Had no idea that Cavalli looked like that. Lol. But I like his stuff. And Lovey Howell was a fashion genius. The pants are fantastic.

The problem with the cruise look is people pull back. They scare themselves a little bit and then try to drown it with beige.

I've been seeing young fashionistas in the SF area wearing pants similar to the first two pants. It's definitely a spring/summer look here. I think you'd be able to carry them off.

Personally, I love #2 and #4.

Probably Ledonna's Mrs. Roper idea got you going on the caftan. I personally wore a sort of caftan-ish tunic top today. And I like prints --either on top or bottom. So I don't strongly object to any of your items but you just need to not style them in a 70s or 80s way.

I'm reading the Summer issue of Porter , and there is an editorial feature on print mixing - in big bold graphics and boho prints . Reminded me of this . The pieces themselves are super fashion forward too .

Mrs. Howell and Mrs. Roper in one thread has distracted me completely down memory lane. I have one Cavalli top - I cut off the sparkly logo thing and it actually is quite good. You are missing nature and sunshine. And there is nothing wrong with those picks!

Lol lisap! Does Roberto Cavalli ever walk? There are so many different pics of him in multiple outfits. As I was googling, i thought "what is eurotrash?"...and then the images loaded.

Also, warning! If you scroll down too far there is one of his bare bum and I was NOT prepared for that at all.
