I belong to a group of women and am an active member. This year’s annual holiday party will be held on Zoom. We are asked to wear festive pj’s to this event. I have not worn pjs for over 50 years. What would you do? Ignore the request and wear a festive sweater? Shop and buy The pj’s? Cobble something together from your closet that may fit in with pjs involving a robe? The meeting is next Tuesday morning. 1/2 what I wore. It was perfect the silver bag is for my glucose meter and on my feet are silver mule/ loafers. The pants are very old and a grey velour. Most women were in something similar and red.

If you have a festive t-shirt you could wear with a robe, that could work. Otherwise, the sweater is fine. I wouldn’t buy anything.

Another vote to cobble something together from what you have. If I remember correctly, you have a lot of festive winter pieces that could work great!

Can you wear an existing sweater with casual bottoms like velour joggers? Something that you would wear to open presents, but not out? Then you are close to the intent, without having to buy anything.

I am glad the consensus seems to not buy anything. I have a red cotton sweater with red sequins scattered over it or my red Snoopy tee with a red plush robe. I could also wear the robe over a knit green top.
I do not have any velour joggers but do have black velour pants with a black ribbon racing stripe down the leg. I also have an “ugly” Christmas cardigan with knitted in shepherd and sheep that could be worn like a robe over a red tee. Kkards, I agree that it is the spirit that counts.
Thank you for your quick replies. I will not spend the day searching the internet for something with fast shipping.

Thank you all for your help. I want to fit in. We are to bring a favorite beverage. At that time of the morning it will be tea or coffee for me. I suspect that I should not wear jewelry or a scarf although I like one or the other on Zoom.

I vote for the “ red Snoopy tee with a red plush robe. I could also wear the robe over a knit green top” with the velour pants rather than the sweater. T-shirts look more pj-like than sweaters. A brooch sounds too pokey to be bedtime-believable, but a scarf could be warm and cozy.

A cinnamon stick to stir your tea (or coffee) is yummy and can add a “festive” little touch. I’ve been putting a few cardamom pods in my French press every morning, but idk how you make that look festive on zoom.

I vote for the same as FashIntern. The Snoopy tee, either a robe or the Christmas cardigan plus the black velour joggers. And coffee!
Not sustainable to buy anything. And I don’t wear PJs either, I wear nighties, think I last bought PJs in the mid 80s. The organiser is probably a PJ wearer and just never imagined that some people don’t wear them!

I say shop your closet and put something together from what you have. I wouldn’t be investing my $$$ for this as I am sure you will be able to create from what you have xxx

The robe is a tiny bit ahead of the sweater. I do have one broach...a Christmas tree. I also have a little sparkly snowflake. Keep those ideas and votes coming.

When I read of your dilemma, my thoughts jumped to your Snoopy T, but I saw you got there by yourself. Lots of people sleep in T-shirts, so who is to know better?

It would be funny if at sometime in the future you wore your Snoopy T out and about and someone from the meeting recognized it and thought you were wearing a PJ top! LOL! (I wouldn’t worry...)

I like the idea of the robe. That still lends the PJ vibe. I for sure wouldn't buy something since you're not going to use it after the party.

I bet you won't be the only one not strictly sticking to the dress code! Not everyone has holiday PJs.

Fun idea for a holiday Zoom party, and I like your proposed solution. It’s at least as festive and fun as anything you would be able to buy between now and Tuesday. It will be fun to see what the others wear. Enjoy the party!

Sal, Runcarla, Gigi, Torontogirl and Windchime, thank you for your responses. It looks like the robe is the way to go. I will have to play in the closet. If I use the Snoopy tee in other outfits, I hope no one will recognize it! Maybe a green knit top will be less memorable.

Ugh, I hate this kind of situation where you feel you may have to shop. I always refuse to buy something specific but I have been chided for it in the past! (Honestly, where do people get the nerve...?).

For ZOOM it definitely shouldn’t matter much. Nobody can see the details and you won’t be taking group pics or anything. Have fun “at” the event!

PJ's are a state of mind, not a specific garment. Some of us wear a full outfit to bed, whilst others wear lingerie or nothing at all!

Case in point: I just bought a vintage DVF 'pyjamas set' that is actually a green velour tunic top & slim trousers (with pockets & elasticated waistband). Worn separately, no one knew that they were supposed to be PJ's. So you could just do the opposite (separate pieces cobbled together to look like PJ's).

If that doesn't work, just show up in the stereotypical face slathered in cream, with cucumbers over your eyes & an eye mask perched on top of your head. Don't forget to add hair rollers for the full effect!
