I missed you guys sooooo much

Life is pretty busy right now and I am enjoying my new job

I have now lot of friends and parties to attend
Last weekend I had a Diwali party(wore traditnal Indian there. )
And the coming Saturday I have a Christmas part at DHs office. I will not have to take public transport as a friend will pick us and drop us home.

Here is what I planned.
Pic 1: the dress. Its sleeveless and I am planning on a similar cardigan of a more substanstial fabric or a blazer(Will have to buy blazer though)
Pic 2: The boots I am planning on wearing and oh I would wear sheer black tights.

I need help ladies? Does the outfit look good? Do I need to replace the pieces?

That dress screams summer and I don't think it goes well with those boots or with black tights.
Maybe another dress?

The dress does look summery, but maybe you could try it with a silver blazer, pearls and nude/tan/silver pumps?

To really help you, you need to give us something more to work with

Either this is the only dress that you can use, in which case that will be starting point that we'll brainstorm around,
or
There are other components that can be used instead of the dress or the footwear or topper, in which case we need to know what's on offer

Also, are the parties going to be casual or more formal?

Either way, I am not too keen on pairing these boots with the dress shown. The sandals you're wearing on the photo are a much better choice.

I think Kirti had some parties recently, how about checking her threads for inspiration?

Oh I now see that I didnt mention this is the only dress I have :(...

Sorry!!!! I see that.. (smacks my head for not proof reading)... The party is casual by most standards , I could wear pumps but not open foot wear now...

I am more of a trouser girl and hardly have any dresses and with my limited wardrobe currently just a suitcase full of clothes, this is all I have

Casual... trouser...

Do you have simple white button down?

Buy a long strand of pearls, knot them in a funky way (check Angie's way here) or simply stack a few pearl necklaces.

Scrunch the sleeves, maybe add glittery belt?

I think the second dress has potential! I would try that with the mauve shoes and a black cardi or cropped jacket for the top. What is the shape of it? Is it A-line or a tulip skirt or midi length?

@Ornella - I thought about white button down but the trouser would be jeans again and as I am going to be meeting DHs bosses I donot want tbe in jeans you know:(

A blazer would also lift up the jeans look if you went with that.

Ahem Suz : 300 NOK currently... As I am still to get my 1st salary and trust me, I can barely buy a blazer in it here in Norway

If your blue jeans are a darker wash, that can totally work Ramya. As Ornella suggested, white button down with scrunched sleeves, pearls and a nice belt will totally work. If the jeans are very casual (i.e. faded wash), I think the second dress you posted could work. The colours read less summery to me.

If you have time maybe try the jeans outfit and this second dress and post for feedback?

Just another thought. Could you play around with layering a jumper over the top of either dress so the dress looks more like a skirt? That might cut back on the summery look of a dress but keep the festive look of a dressy skirt on the bottom.

Some ideas: a simple soft, grey jumper on top with pearls and your silver flats with the blue dress. A black, buttoned up cardigan with the printed dress and your purple heels. Or maybe try wearing a white shirt over the dress with the ends tied and tucked around your waist in with pearls-- or use the technique but with a lightweight, draped front cardigan. Or try closing up the cardigan you're wearing with the blue dress with an interesting belt, or pin, so just the top part of the dress just peeks through like a cami.

If you think of the either of the dresses as skirts, you might be able to lessen the summery feel but still keep the festive vibe. It might be worth while to spend some time playing around in your closet with some of your tops, belts, and jewelry.

How about a black (or burgundy, or green - something dark) slim fitting sweater, worn over the 2nd dress. Add a brown belt cinched at the waist, tights, and those boots. Necklace, bracelet, clutch - done!

** Alternatively, tights with your mauve pumps would be cute too

You will work this out! Try layering the white shirt under both dresses, you might be surprised of the result. Add belts or necklaces. Your boots are great, and the dresses likewise. From what I know of Norwegian Christmas parties, people tend to dress up, so don't be afraid to follow your instincts and add some glam. This might be very different in your husband's company, so ask him for advice - if the culture is more international, then my assumptions may not apply. A good solution is to swap boots for pumps or sandals when you arrive at the party, that is what I always do in Winter. Good luck! You are so sweet and pretty, so you will look good no matter what

I know many of the others think your dress #! is too summery, but I'm sure you can work around that. What if you add some black sheer hose and a black topper (a shawl, a cardigan or something, how would that look? Do you have silver shoes/sandals, or black pumps? Use white pearls, too. Have you tried that yet?

Yes, I did and DH really liked it. I tried a cement grey topper(knit blazerish cardigan ) and hose and mauve pumps. Though i wore black pearls as in the photo.
Black looked too harsh on this light dress.
