Oh! You meant FASHION splurge!

Mine was my Via Spiga black booties, which I have worn for the past two days and just love.

Runner up (in price per item) was my white Banana Republic satchel, which turned out to be a gigantic wardrobe workhorse and definitely one of the best buys of the year!

Janet - In all honesty, you get inspiration not blame!! But you do look so awesome in those shoes!! OMG how could I forget your HL jacket - me loveth!! You go girl!! Splurges would not be special if you could have a new one every day. I think the important thing is to really love the ones we make!!
Zapotee - wow tuition/cash really impressive!! That is the ultimate investment and may it bring your daughter a lifetime of wonderful opportunities!!

Jewell - great tote!! It will certainly elevate the style quotient of any outfit!!
Shedev - a leather jacket is such a great investment. It doesn't have to be expensive to be fantastic, just fit well and make you feel fabulous!! Enjoy!!
Mo - the DVF dress is fabulous on you. You definitely need to break it out!
Jacky - Greyscale posted pics on her tread of you in the Theory jacket. Awesome!! You look so great in it! Glad you are enjoying because it looks fabulous on you!
Jjsloane - a burburry brit jacket for $189! What a total score! Now you can enjoy every moment absolutely guilt free!! Well done!
Dee - what a great story. Good things come to those who wait and stalk!! And they had your size in the coat!! Fabulous and kudos to hubby for enabling!! Enjoy your wonderful coat!
MsMaven - patience is definitely a virtue. I am sure when the time is right it will be a total work horse! What a great choice and NAS does it get better than that?!
E - wow equador!! I am sure it was an amazing trip. Memories are priceless. But so are comfy feet. I think quality footware is a great investment. Enjoy your boots and flats!!
MaryK- Booties and I know that white BR satchel. You rock it!! Great purchases for your polished and elegant style!

I bought more shoes last year than I can remember. None of the pairs were super expensive, but I finally decided thatt if I have to spend a little more to get something that fits my narrow feet, then I just have to go for it.

Looking ahead to 2014, I am thinking that my fashion splurge might be something from Theory.

I like hearing you spoil yourselves, ladies. Enjoy your killer stunning treasures. Wear them and feel magical.

Gryffin, your little Valentino darlings are stunning.

Mine was the pink man coat by Joseph.

Still nothing extravagant for me this year. The biggest ticket item was Danier cashmere blend black coat I guess (at $300)

It's fun to see all the items you all have picked out with such care! It makes mine feel more significant when I have thought out the purchase carefully.

Diana, I love your moto! I hesitated on that turquoise jacket a bit, and now I regret it a little.... It is sure a stunner on you! We just bought our first house last year, so this year the budget has still been a little slim

For me footwear has been winning my hard earned dollars! It's the best category for me~ I am on my feet all day and boots are just fun anyway. The metallic boots are Gentle Souls & I am wearing today for the first time & they are super comfortable! The JCrew leopard chelseas are waiting for rubber on the soles (before I wear them), & just a bit of me is worrying that the calf hair wont last as long as I would like them to...

Zap, that tuition thing is a biggie. We celebrated our first year in a while of paying NO tuition! Woohoo!

Fun thread!

My second Michele watch of the year. Both bought at Rack but this baby takes the cake. Over 50% off but still a huge chunk of change for me but I'm in love and I know I will wear it for-ever!! Can't take it off since I bought it.

Just loving this thread. It brings back happy memories -- not only of my own purchases but everyone else's! Those Rockstuds are just gorgeous. I have been drooling over them, too. Janet's posts got me into the stores, fondling them. I was too scared to try them on. They are for my fantasy life so I can't justify it.

My biggest splurge this year was the purchase of TWO pair of La Canadienne boots at the same time - at full price! Tall boots are not easy for me to fit and these are weather proof and versatile. So far, I adore them both.

MRL - Comfy shoes are priceless!! Glad your feet are happy and stylish!! PS you can never go wrong with Theory!!
Angie - your pink man coat is to die for stunning on you!! I know it makes me happy to see you wear it so you must be tickled pink!! ;-). (Sorry could not resist!!)
Sveta- you know I adore that coat on you!! So elegant, sophisticated and chic!! I hope you are enjoying your choice of black outer ware because you look stunning!!
Rebekah - gorgeous boots!! Nothing elevates an outfit like a chic boot!! Great choices- enjoy them!!

I'm a bag junkie, so this years splurge bag was my Saddleback Leather tote bag. I will scrimp and shop reasonably with everything else, but bags are my weakness.

Last year I had a (huge) moment of weakness and bought two pairs of tall Frye boots. I have had lesser boots for 10+ years, so I know they will go the distance.

I completely understand the temptation with those Rockstars - they aren't my style nor do they fit in my lifestyle and I still love them. Biggest splurge for me is being planned for January when my favorite stores have clearance sales.

Janet - congrats on being tuitionless!! Kudos!!
ABC - gorgeous watch!! I can understand why you would never want to take it off. Fabulous choice!!
Suz- what beautiful boots!! Gorgeous and practical!! I love my La Canadienne boots!! Major score for happy, dry feet!!

My splurge was a Burberry Brit red wool coat. Initially, I paid full price for it, but then was able to get a price adjustment ($200) a week later. Yay, Nordies!

I LOVE this coat. It is now my standard for comparison when I am considering other purchases. I have even had strangers tell me they love my coat. Maybe it's just because I finally bought something other than black!

Von - you can never go wrong with a beautiful bag or bags!! When the right ones come along they are such a pleasure!! Frye boots are a terrific investment!! Enjoy and wear them well!!
Shevia- how marvelously exciting!! While we are all in that post holiday slump you will have something awesome to look forward to!! Good luck and I look forward to seeing what you select!!

Hi! Fun thread! My favorite purchase was my Missoni poncho. It is my best colors (blue and green) and makes me feel great! This is a highly symbolic purchase for me. It means I am embracing my boho side--a major departure from my buttoned-up corporate look which was my default. It also marks my understanding that you can and should invest in your casual looks--especially in LA!

It is my first designer purchase since becoming a Mom 10 years ago. I have always loved quality materials and good design but felt I shouldn't be indulgent. I am definitely back on track with my shopping for pleasure and not just utility. You may need to reign me in in 2014. I have not yet crossed the Rubicon of premium denim. Onward and upward!

Thanks for all the help!

My biggest single splurge was actually today. I succumbed to triple points, and ordered the most expensive sweater I've ever owned...but it's so pretty & snuggly looking online. So fingers crossed...

I have happy clients in that sweater, CC. It's on my top picks list for next week. You will love it. I love it with white jeans.

Your spurges are incredible, ladies.

NDMom- wow!! Burberry!! that is a totally fantastic coat!! Great color, elegant and super price!! Fab pick!!
LACeleste - your poncho sounds extraordinary!! Sometimes those breakout purchases are the ones that give us the most pleasure because we are finally being true to our most authentic selves!! Way to go!! Enjoy!!

- My Helmut Lang wool moto coat
- An Inhabit cashmere sweatercoat
- Rag and Bone boots (2 pair)

I love splurging.

CC- omg that sweater is gorgeous!! The pattern and line are just elegant. It looks the cozy kind of sweater you just never want to take off. Good luck!! I hope it works out!!

IK- just the thought of a HL moto coat sounds amazing!! And cashmere sweatercoat, wow, wow, wow!! R&b booties too. Just crushing on your choices!

A black leather jacket during NAS. I'd been searching for one for years, so it was a nice find. And a Theory sweater during NAS. I just adore their pieces so it was nice to pick something up at a sale price.

Big splurge? a fabulous trip to Japan last spring. Fashionwise, I'm still hoping to find the perfect boots and know that they will be a splurge. Other than that the most money went for a fiery red Kate Spade quilted bag.

I am loving my light-neutral toned coat from Vince. I waffled on it a lot, purchasing the pea coat first, but I went back to my original choice, and returned the pea coat. I am so happy I went back to my "first love."

I am quite budget conscious but as I find myself buying less, I am buying better. My winter black leather booties were not so much a splurge as an investment. And I splurged on two beautiful, and surprisingly edgy dresses from Laura Ashley this year.

Mine was black Rag and Bone booties that I initially bought while shopping with a friend, but felt too guilty and returned the next day, only to not be able to stop thinking about them, and re-purchase weeks later! I have never spent that much on shoes before, but I do love them!

While my most expensive clothing was (boring) orthotic shoes, I don't consider that a splurge as it is a necessary item in my wardrobe, and something I buy every year or two.
What I do consider a splurge was a new red coat with a faux leopard collar (marked down to $100) and my blue sequin pattern dress (same price but not marked down!). These are both more than I would usually spend on those items. I loved having a nice bright colour on the dull winter streets, and I am wearing my fab dress heaps.
I think that my splurge of 2012 (an outfit for my brother's wedding) made me realise how much nicer some of the clothes were at a slightly higher price point! I am still pretty cautious about buying them, as I am on a restricted budget, but if the CPW warrants it, as it does with these 2 items, that paves the way!

parkmommychic: Those are the R&B boots that I've been drooling over! They didn't quite fit right on me, though, and the heel seemed a bit high for everyday wear, sadly. Are you finding them comfortable even with the height?
