KL - That Longchamps bag is beautiful and practical. Such a great buy and from the reviews it sounds like it will last forever. Great choice!! Same with the leather moto - I am sure over the years it will be indispensable!! Enjoy!
Refugee - I am so intrigued by the cozy and I think it's fantastic when you can get different looks easily from the same item. Fabulous choice and sounds like an awesome color!!
Claire - you look stuffing in your trench and the okalas!! If something is so clearly working for you no reason to look for an upgrade!! Enjoy!! I know I love seeing how you style them!
Mochi - gorgeous bag - kind of like a Hermes ostrich birkin. You can't go by me Miss "does this come in black". I think stretching your style boundaries is difficult. I hope you enjoy rocking this bag because it's truly lovely but there is always be more bags and you can choose a different color next time. But I really admire you for pushing your comfort zone, whether it works out or not. Kudos!!

A bridesmaid dress from JCrew!

What a fun thread! There's so much to drool over here….

My big splurge was probably these earrings. I usually have a hard time spending much on jewelry, especially when it's something tiny like these, but I'd seen these in a store and really loved them. So when I got some birthday money from my parents that they wanted me to use toward something nice and splurgy, I decided to go for it. I'm really glad I did because I love how they make everyday outfits feel special and distinctive without being too big or dramatic. I've probably been wearing them at least once or twice a week since I got them.

Hmm, if jewelry counts, then the gold and diamond Effy pendant I purchased in May would be the highest dollar amount. As far as fashion goes, I just splurged on a pair of McQ silver creepers and a new Coach bag (embossed glitter python shoulder bag). Best of all, the bag goes with the shoes!

MaryK - how beautiful!!! Yes great times and great friends can carry you through anything. A beautiful memory.
Janet - so true sometime we need to "grow into" a purchase and it's only over time that we realize it was a great choice!! A great insight!
Melllls - JCrew has gorgeous bridesmaid dress, the kind you would actually like to wear and wear again. Hope you enjoy and give it many wonderful outtings!
Aubergine - those earring are very special. I can see why they caught your heart. I've never seen a stone or setting like that. They look perfect for pretty much all occasions. I am sure you will enjoy them forever. Fabulous choice!
Echo - wow your purchases sound awesome. But may I ask, what are Mc! creepers? are those the shoes? Just the name sounds so cool!! I must be out of the loop on this one. The Coach python bags are amazing and I am sure you will have such fun using it. Definitely the focal point of any outfit. You pendant sounds lovely. Enjoy wearing all your beautiful goodies!!

My biggest splurge was a pair of Aquatalia Rhumba boots. I had originally dismissed them as simply being too expensive, but many people on the forum said that they were worth the money and that they last forever. I got them on sale for 30% off, but I'm still smarting from sticker shock. I was curious to try out what you suggested in your opening thread, Gryffin, that buying one really nice, expensive, well-made item will curb the tendency to overshop, since you will finally be satisfied and will wear the thing into the ground. :^)

Non-fashion splurge? Willful underemployment. It's been very freeing, especially when my health has been more of a challenge than "usual."

Fashion-wise, probably the black leather ankle boots. In the past, I wouldn't have considered them a splurge, because in my previous climate and work-life, I'd have worn them twice a week with suits plus on weekends with jeans. They're a splurge now because I can't consider them a work-wear expense, and so many other wardrobe elements are still missing.

Splurge I was ready to commit: custom Wesco boots. YLF helped me realize that it's a different style direction than I want to move in. The cash in that envelope won't go to attire, though; it's most likely headed for Wilburn Forge.

Amy K - making a change than enhances your health and well being is the best investment there is!! Wishing you a new year with only good health and good things in it! Enjoy your ankle boots. Being a boot girl, I always think they are an awesome purchase!!

This has been a year of spending money for me. Tuition for grad credits, commuting back and forth to school, and my new camera and computer which I love (and needed, and didn't pay for most of thanks to warranties and generous family members)!

Money-wise, my biggest splurge was 4 pairs of gear shoes. I have orthopedic problems and when I decided to do this class with the hiking and heavy outdoor work I knew I needed to spend the money to avoid the pain. So, I have a pair of waterproof hiking boots that I will also wear to commute in in the winter, a pair of water proof gear shoes that are perfect for wearing to work in "mud season", a pair of fashionable sneakers for running errands and casual friday, and a pair of running shoes.

Beyond that, I bought 2 new gear shirts, 2 fleeces, a new fleece hat for hiking, a new ballcap, wool hiking socks, the Speigel jacket, and 4 l/s tees, and a pair of running shorts.

I recieved a lovely gift from my secret elf, which imo was a splurge and my first cashmere!

Next year I'm hoping to fit a pair of premium jeans and some nice boots into the budget.

gryffin: McQ is the less expensive line of Alexander McQueen, although the shoes are still full leather and leather lined. Creepers are just a style of shoe.

Elly - good for you!! Hiking is fab exercise but it would be absolutely miserable and unsafe without the right gear. I am glad you will snug and your feet will be happy! Great choices!! Cashmere how fab and what a wonderful and generous elf!! So glad you will have lovely splurges for next year. Boots and premium denim always very worth and delightful purchases!!
Echo - thanks for the info. Wow, gorgeous shoes. You will look so smart in them and I can see where the coach python bag would look stellar with them. Enjoy!!

I have upped my splurge since this thread began and I posted earlier. As detailed here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....shoe-crush these are my latest splurge. Although I count orthotic shoes as a necessity, the fact that my current ones aren't worn out now makes these a splurge!

So many goodies to drool over on this thread!

I have been spending my feelings this year:

First place goes to my olive green Burberry trench. Bought with part of a windfall as a celebration of surviving the past year and making it to 30. I did actually wear it out during my birthday "weekend," but now I'm wondering if I need to hem it up a tick to make it more versatile and wearable with flats.

Second place goes to my Ugg Cortonas, although those might not count since I made up the $ by selling old boots. Still, way more than I've dropped for boots before. Those have been great workhorses for me, and I wore them for the birthday weekend as well.

The boots I just bought. I always spend more on shoes, as I have fussy feet.

Boots for me as well - my first pair, La Canadiennes on discount.

Anne - stunning shoes. I love the color and the detail!! Enjoy and may your feet sing with joy at their comfort!!
rae - your burburry trench is stunning and the color is gorgeous for you. Major drool. I do like my trenches long so I think it looks great but you must be happy and feel good. Whatever you do it looks marvelous!! I am a total lemming on the boots. They looked so awesome you you!! Amex points on amazon but they are so worth it. Do you not love girl math;-)!!
Ruth - no one can look good if they are in pain. Shoes/boots always worth the big bucks if they look good and your feet are happy. Great splurge!
Alasse - love my la canadiennes!! Better yet on sale!! well done!! Enjoy your warm, comfy and dry feet!!

Late to the Party here, but Kate Spade - 70% off; but still smarting as well.

Gorgeous bag, Lyn. You will enjoy it for a very long, long, long time. That's the best kind of splurge but beautiful and well made don't usually come cheap even on sale!! (PS 70% off I am soooooooooo impressed!!)

My Burberry Brit Crombrook red wool blend trench coat. I started actively working on a new wardrobe a couple of months ago. I needed a new coat, I was new to Nordstrom's, I saw the red trench, I asked to try it on, and I bought it. I had no idea who Burberry Brit was until I started to look it up to see if my purchase was just totally stupid and impulsive. And then my friends told me about the brand. It was expensive but I had no context for how much a nice coat should be. Anyway, I've been sitting on clothes shopping for years. I can't keep that level of spending, but I don't regret the coat at all.
