What To Wear This Weekend? - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Ladies,

We are going to Melbourne this weekend for a 40th birthday at a fun park, followed by another birthday dinner and then a visit to our old church on the Sunday morning.

I bought this skirt today. I had been looking for a pencil skirt with an abstract print and being Team Wear thought it could be nice for the Sunday morning.

I have posted 2 options. 1 is worn with an asymmetrical black top (it's almost as long as the skirt at the back.). 2 is a photo of the shoes (I bought these at the Melbourne meet a few weeks back) and 3 is the skirt with a more fitted top and obi belt...and my best accessory... Master 8 who pleaded with me to put his photo on the post, I hope you don't mind this indulgence:)

Love your feedback, suggestions etc. I don't have to wear the skirt this weekend so if you think I need to go back to the drawing board and find a better top that's fine:)

BTW it's 8.30pm so no make up, accessories, etc, in fact a complete lack of styling really lol.

I love your style, Deborah! I adore that skirt with the leggings and the flats. I do think that the sweater volume is a bit overwhelming in #1, because of the length. It would look fab with skinnies, though. #3 looks terrific, especially your sidekick! As of Monday, I will have a Master 8 of my own (we have a big birthday weekend ahead of us!) - but yours looks to be about twice as tall! what about adding the necklace from #1 to #3? Have a terrific weekend.

Sarah so glad you popped by. I'm attaching a limk to a post from a week ago. I have the shirt as worn in pic 2 in black also and am wondering if that might work over the black and white skirt. It's not so voluminous. What do you think? Happy birthday to your son for Mondayxxx

Great looks! I love your style. I really love the asymmetrical sweater, but I think I prefer the look with the leggings and the obi belted shirt with this skirt. Maybe some skinnies for the sweater? Then you've got both days covered

Love the leggings with the skirt! The only reason I'm not wild about #1 is because of the length in the back. I think the volume from the front looks really great with the skirt and leggings. Don't you have a black top that is still waist surrendering but not so long in the back? That said I adore #2! And love the flats!

Agree that the top in #1 would look terrific with skinnies.

I missed your earlier post with the leather skirt and navy tunic blouse. Wow - but I'm all in love with navy and black.

That being said, #3 gets my voter over #1, LOVE the shoes, and yes, maybe you could try the navy blouse shown earlier. Have fun on your weekend!!

I like them both! #3 might fit the full schedule a bit better, as #1 reads quite a lot more casual to my eye. That sweater in #1 is too cool though!

Sarah, thanks for popping back, I chose the black version of the blue blouse for this weekend and will belt it.

Angie, thank you for checking in. I had some uncertainty about both tops so your K rating on 3 blew me away. You may realize the skirt was very much inspired by your tea and pearls outfit. I am going to try a black button down with this skirt as well.

I have packed my skinnies to wear with the asymmetrical top for the casual dinner tonight and a still waist defining variation on no 3 for tomorrow morning (a softer plain black blouse - choice was weather related) And I have thrown in some colorful scarves.
