What to do about this dress

I've lusted after this Pink Tartan dress for months, and finally bought it last week. Saks had it on sale for a brief period plus I had a gc so I didn't pay full price.....still, it wasn't cheap. The dress arrived today, and it's fabulous. The fit is perfect and it looks exactly as I hoped. The problem is the words "Pink Tartan" are written randomly all over the dress! (see attached closeup photos) It's impossible to see the writing in the online photos, so I was shocked when I opened the package and saw them.

Sigh. The dress is perfect in every way, but I have a real aversion to wearing labels on clothing. I'm thinking of returning it......

Thoughts?

How disappointing! If you have an aversion to labels, you must honor your true feelings Back it goes! There will be other dresses.

I would have no problem with that. Let's see it on.

They are just words that look like they are part of the design.

Its really not that noticeable....if you love it, keep it! They're not giant block letters all over that *scream* at you It can be hard to find something you wanted for a long time (like you have) that fits great....

Great dress, let's see it on! I agree about the lettering being small and not really noticablem just a part of the design. But you know yourself best and know if it's going to be bugging the heck out of you, the dress is too pretty to become an orphan....

To me, this is just like an Emilio Pucci with his little signature all over the print as a form of authentication. If you couldn't see it on the online photo, odds are others won't see it from a comfortable distance on you. Not a deal breaker

Even though I have the same aversion as yours, I echo the others that the label seems small enough that they are not going to be noticeable unless people pay close attention by staring. If the fit is perfect, I'll give a pass on this and keep.

I don't mind "small" labels, but I would send back anything that had a *huge* distinctive label. Your dress would be fine by me, I would think it's just part of the design if I saw it myself.

You are right though, you can't tell at all on the online model, and I would have been very surprised too. Perhaps write the company and let them know what you think of that.

You look fantastic! I agree with you about the whole brand thing but this seems subtle and incorporated into the design. Is it going to drive you mad? Only you know! I think you should see if you can force your brain to work around it.

I can see them in the online photos - they look like flaws with the pattern. It's all crisp and then there are these random squiggly parts that don't look right. But I doubt I would have noticed them if I wasn't looking for them. Can you try showing the dress to someone without pointing out the pink tartan signature and see what they think (or if they even notice it)?

Like Mo, I though of the signature on Pucci items -- which I'd never noticed until I was looking at bolts of fabric with it right in front of me.

The dress looks fantastic on you and I don't see any branding from a distance, so if you can accept the add-on, enjoy! [But return if it bothers you even a bit as I fear you won't wear it.]

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I think I'll keep the dress. I really love it, and I think I can live with the small logo placements. Many of you made such reasonable points about how the logo is not distracting that I feel emboldened to take a baby step away from my logo aversion.

This is one of the reasons I love YLFers: the way they can gently nudge you past your comfort zone.
