What sort of shoes to go with this dress?

Hello all,

I have bought this dress to wear to my cousin's wedding in July. I love the dress, it's a stretchy sort of scuba fabric and fits like a dream. The colours really suit me too and it was on sale, so a lucky find.

I now have the problem of shoes. I have wonky feet. There's fallen arches ( I normally wear orthotics but would forgo them for 1 day's glamour!), narrow heels and wide forefoot. At the risk of being controversial, I'm also one who feels too tall in heels.

So what sort of shoe styles and colours would you put with this?

Beautiful dress! How about some kind of silvery shoe with low heel with ancle strap or maybe a wedge?

ETA: what kind of wedding is it? Outdoor, indoor, formal, casual?

I would probably wear nude pumps or sandals with a low-ish block heel.Pumps vs sandals would depend on location and how formal or casual the wedding is.
For more of a pop: pink shoes, if they match one of the colors in the dress.

I love the dress. I like metallic shoes. Do you have any favorite shoe brands? Maybe that would help for specific suggestions.

I vote for a lower block heel or lower wedge in nude, metallic, or white. You could even pick up one of the beautiful colors from the print. Gorgeous dress.

Very pretty dress and seems so appropriate, this story is really off to a good start.
Maybe a metallic or vivid pink? And the lower the heel the pointier the toe?

I also have a wide forefoot and narrow heel and finicky feet! It's so hard to find a good fit because shoes that fit my toes are often too big in the heel.

If it were me, I'd look for a pointy-toe or almond-toe slingback (so you can adjust the fit) with a low heel, in a nude or beige shade, maybe patent, or perhaps silver. Wedge or block as suggested above, or pointy if you can find a comfy one.

Aerosoles has a few in their "mid-heel" category. Their shoes are usually comfortable.

I can also wear Sole Society pointy toes if I size up a half size, and they have a few options that might suit you.

If you can wear a heel, I vote for the Sam Edelman Patti. They are available in a nice selection of colors too. Actually pretty comfortable for a heel.

ETA, I just saw you can't wear a heel so I would definitely try a low block heel style like Robin suggested.

Try Rockport Total Motion slingbacks. Surprisingly foot friendly. (I have foot issues and they work for me).

What Tanya said and the excellent examples of these colors that others gave posted. If it is an outdoor wedding, flats or wedges so not to sink into the ground.

I'm in the same boat looking for wedding guest shoes and I have similar feet. These Clarks come in a wide width and if only they were silver I'd snap them up. BUt I think the blush might look great with that dress.

I very much agree that silver and certain nudes and blushes would look great with your gorgeous dress. Perhaps consider which of those would be most useful as an addition to your wardrobe, and shop accordingly?

Low heeled shoes seem to be abundant right now, so I bet you'll find some good options that accomodate your fit issues.

Beautiful dress! My first thought was silver shoes, probably with an ankle strap since I imagine a narrow heel might cause pumps to slip. I happened to notice that ASOS of all places has several silver shoes in a wide fit, which might accommodate your wide forefoot better?

Thank you so much everyone. I'm really surprised at all the suggestions of nude or blush and silver. I hadn't considered any of those and that's why I like this forum. Participating is forcing me to think critically about all purchases. I had been googling all shades of pink and purple and unfortunately real life shopping turned up nothing with a low enough heel. The shops were full of nude and blush though. I'm leaning towards silver, I love a metallic!

Harmonica: it'll be indoor, church then hotel reception with the obligatory outside photos in the cold

Colette: I struggle with anything over 2 inches or thereabouts, both from a comfort and a looks point of view

Scarlet: wide fit are normally out due to my foot just sliding around but a strappy one might be able to be tightened up.

Mid-heeled slingbacks or mules in one or more of the dress colours.(Apparantly, there are several to choose from, from offwhite via shades of pink and red to deep plum. )

Stunning dress! When I looked at it, my immediate thought was picking out one of the pinks or almost-reds in it, in a pointy toed flat. I'm one for picking out colours and like you would not have thought of nude, blush or metallic. But all those options will certainly widen your choices.

My first thought: a silver shoe (and I don't even own any metallic footwear). Blush would look nice, too.

Since you mention fussy feet, you could try dressy flats. I would go with point toe D'Orsay flats (maybe with ankle strap or detail), flats with straps (strap details) across the arch, or maybe point toe flats with strings. Other types of dressy flats would look good as well.

I think there are too many choices and that's my problem! My own first thought was fuschia but I couldn't find a lower heeled pair.

BrieN, my hair is a hotpotch at the moment, a grown out ombre with dark blonde/ light brown roots with a smattering of grey and bleach blonde ends. It's much in need of a tidy up!

Fantastic dress! Anne Klein makes a lot of slingback, pointy-toe pumps with 1.5" heels that somehow feel as formal as higher heels, at a walkable height. The slingbacks really help with the narrow heel problem, I know; I have it too. Have fun at the wedding!
