Curious to know what yours is, Carla!
Ok, I’m taking this literally — a garment, not footwear or accessories. And my choice reflects *right now* in our current season and current time. Ask me three months from now, you’ll get a different answer for sure!
Even narrowed down like that, it’s hard for me to choose one. But here are the finalists:
- Peruvian Connection moto jeans. I love the vibe of moto jeans or pants but find them very hard to fit because they are usually cut for someone with slim legs. These pants actually have the miraculous trait of being long enough to be full length on me and accommodate my thighs. I love them as an alternative to basic jeans and would duplicate them if they offer a dark burgundy or forest green or other dark color (their current offerings are too light or not quite the right colors for me).
- AG Angel bootcut jeans. Perfect full length to wear with the vast majority of my footwear, perfect fit, flattering, excellent wash. Not too high in the rise, hallelujah! I can put them on with almost anything and feel instantly better about my body and my outfit. Polished but casual.
- AG Harper slim straight jeans. Same as the above, plus they are versatile in that they can be rolled or cuffed to wear with almost any footwear. A step more casual than the bootcuts. I should probably duplicate these. They don’t stretch out too much with wear, like a similarly cut pair of DL1961 jeans I have.
- Fuzzi printed skirt. Ok, this is not for plentiful opportunity of wear, for sure. I’ve only worn it maybe four times since I bought it a year ago, but yeah, it’s a year of pandemic and staying at home and camping. But the print makes me happy when I look in my closet, and I look forward to wearing it again someday.
- Peruvian Connection mid-length leather coat. I’m particularly enjoying this length of coat/jacket and my current collection is sparse. I have a lot that are shorter (either cropped jackets, or pea coats which are not my best length), or longer (they skew dressier and warmer than I need these days). This one hits the right note in casual style, is roomy enough to layer a little underneath while still being streamlined, and is lightweight and flattering. It’s just distressed enough to have a casual rock’n’roll vibe without looking ratty.
If I have to boil it down to one, I’ll choose the Harper straights. They are the jeans that are easiest to wear right now and help me feel “dressed” even if I’m not leaving the house, yet are nearly as comfortable as joggers or lounge pants.
