Thanks everyone! Trying to make do with what I have for now.
SF do parents have to go to Universities in the US? In the UK we went completely alone (I was 18) and went to all open days and interviews across the country alone.
With my son, tomorrow is just the open day where they explain what the school is like and how to apply, but this is an early one just for the kids that are already at the youchien. They had to have an interview when they entered that (at 3!! Though was very basic and is the norm for all kindergartens.) The ones in Tokyo can be extreme though and you have to send them to a prep school from 2.5y where they have to all dress in navy, parents as well. Learn how to stand and how to sit. I do find there is a way everything must be done that is correct and any other way is wrong. I suppose it is part of the culture in a way. Everyone/thing should be be the same. Do not stand out.
The school we chose though is more laid back and likes individuality somewhat more.
Its a very different system to the UK, that is for sure.
Synne, people here are very dressy. Its hard not to feel bad about yourself if you don't make an effort. I think there are LOADS of Japan YouTube vloggers out there...they don't need any more haha.
