So today's outfit (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....position-4) was an interesting experiment in silhouettes. And as the day wore on, became obvious to me, a failure. Now I’m not upset that it was a failure and in fact, it was a strange kind of “positive failure”.
I learned that the cognac colour of the jacket is fine with my hair/skin colouring as long as there is something else with it that does work with my hair/skin – the jacket is a “keeper”. The chocolate brown of the tank underneath does nothing for me and I felt “colourless” all day. It’s going – I don’t see it working with anything else either.
The skirt was thrifted so I have no investment in it. As a stand-alone item, I think it’s a beautiful skirt. But not for me. It’s too long and makes my legs look even shorter than they really are. Add in the flowy volume and I felt completely “schlumpy”. The colours are lovely together but again, not good colours for me. I’ve mentally reviewed what else I have in my wardrobe that could work with this and I have nothing. It’s going to be re-thrifted.
I think any time I learn something from trying different colours, silhouettes, shapes, etc, then I am making progress in my style journey. Maybe it’s a case of learning by elimination. Plus I still had fun trying it!
